David Del Rio Engages Kim Kardashian’s Lawyer Following ‘Matlock’ Dismissal

David Del Rio has engaged Kim Kardashian’s attorney, Shawn Holley, a few weeks after his dismissal from the CBS legal drama Matlock, as confirmed by Us Weekly.

TMZ reported on Wednesday, November 5, that the 38-year-old actor has hired Holley, 63, to represent him following his unexpected exit from Matlock due to an investigation into sexual assault allegations. Holley’s clientele includes Kardashian, 45, along with Justin Bieber and Lindsay Lohan.

An allegation involving Del Rio and co-star Leah Lewis allegedly occurred in late September. CBS reportedly fired Del Rio and escorted him off the lot shortly after Lewis, 28, filed a report days later, according to Deadline.

Though Del Rio has yet to publicly address his firing, Lewis shared her thoughts on Instagram last month.

“Mom is here, we’re moving forward in love and strength. I’m in good hands,” she stated at the time. “Thank you to everyone for your support and care. We’re definitely moving forward in strength—the key word is strength. Let that be the takeaway.”

Matlock’s second season premiered on October 12, and Del Rio’s character, Billy, was anticipated to be eliminated from the storyline in the latter half of the season.

Prior to the actor’s firing, Matlock had crafted an emotional scene between Billy and Sarah (Lewis) in the October 23 episode. Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) was preoccupied with her issues with Matty (Kathy Bates) and unjustly blamed Sarah for an error in a case, prompting Billy to defend her. “Stop gaslighting Sarah,” he asserted to Olympia.

Afterward, Sarah expressed gratitude to Billy for standing up for her against Olympia despite his conflict-averse nature. “The point is, you did it,” she noted.

Billy acknowledged that his support for Sarah had “meant a lot” to her.

In May, Del Rio discussed the show’s paternity twist involving Billy and his ex with Us. “I’m really excited to see how Billy balances work and personal life,” he shared.

Lewis also reflected on Sarah’s journey on Matlock ahead of the second season.

“I remember reading the finale and hoping that Sarah would come away with a wonderful victory,” she stated. “However, with the situation involving Simone, she may have to take responsibility. This season will truly show whether Sarah can rise to the occasion for what she has been striving for.”

She continued, If you want to be treated like a leader, you need to act like one. I believe this season we’ll see her mature in that regard. Her professional triumph is far from over.”
