Sophie Cunningham Cracks ‘Tits’ Joke Following Photo with Sydney Sweeney
WNBA star Sophie Cunningham isn’t shy about sharing a laugh, even while meeting one of the biggest Hollywood stars.
Cunningham, 29, struck a pose with actress Sydney Sweeney at a NASCAR event in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday, November 2. The WNBA athlete later posted the picture on X, where she made a humorous remark about Sweeney’s outfit.
“[O]ne of us forgot our tits at home @sydney_sweeney,” she quipped, adding a smiley emoji.
Cunningham’s playful comment seemed to refer to their attire. The Indiana Fever guard sported a light gray crop top layered over a Phoenix jersey, while Sweeney, 28, chose a low-cut white crop top under a white-and-red racing jacket.
The basketball player has been quite active during the offseason. On Wednesday, October 29, Cunningham posted a series of images on Instagram from her appearance on Good Morning America.
“gooooood morning ‘Merica! nothing like eating steak nuggets at 7am😋,” she captioned the carousel of shots, which included her sitting on the host desk and a pic with Robin Roberts.
She also talked about her visit on her podcast, “Show Me Something.”
“The people there are absolutely so, so nice,” she shared with cohost West Wilson in an episode released on Saturday, November 1. “Hair and makeup were fantastic. I met Robin, I met Ginger [Zee]… Dude, [Robin] was so cool. I was like, my gosh, this is awesome. I was there with Arby’s, and it was amazing. I was eating steak bites at like 7 or 8 AM; it was nice.”

Cunningham also spoke on the ongoing CBA negotiations in the WNBA. The league’s players are seeking a larger share of overall revenue, which would increase as the league expands, and they have expressed dissatisfaction with the current offers from leadership. Both parties missed an October 31 deadline to finalize a new agreement and have entered into a 30-day extension period.
This delay may push next year’s free agency period later than usual, meaning players might not sign contracts with teams for some time. Cunningham, like many WNBA players, will be an unrestricted free agent ahead of the 2026 season.
“I want that next contract so I can buy a house!” she exclaimed to Wilson. “I just want to feel homey and cozy, but I’m not decorating anything until I’ve got a three-year contract in front of me.”
Cunningham was traded from the Phoenix Mercury to the Indiana Fever in a three-team trade in January 2025. As a vital contributor for her new team, she averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 assists in 25.2 minutes of play before suffering an MCL tear in her right knee on August 17.
In October, Cunningham admitted she hasn’t strictly followed her doctors’ orders during recovery.
“I’m not the most patient person. I do pray for patience, but I kind of let myself out of that cast without a doctor’s approval,” she shared on “Show Me Something” that month. “I had my check-up, and they said, ‘You’re progressing really well, and you look fantastic.’ I responded, ‘Say less.’”
