Gael Cameron and Nathan Gallagher’s Relationship on Below Deck Med
Below Deck couples have struggled with lasting love — and Mediterranean‘s Gael Cameron and Nathan Gallagher are no different.
The pair, who met during season 9, experienced a turbulent beginning as Gael dealt with the fallout of a breakup with her offscreen partner. Meanwhile, Nathan was upfront about his strong attraction to Gael, which deepened as they worked alongside each other on deck.
Bravo fans were taken aback when Nathan and Gael’s growing bond led them to nearly sneak away for an intimate moment off camera before production intervened.
“[The cameras] weren’t on my mind,” Nathan exclusively shared with Us in July 2024. “I was 10 tequilas deep. I didn’t even notice where the cameras were.”
As season 9 concluded, Nathan and Gael’s relationship’s future was uncertain, but by the end of season 10, they had reunited and were expecting their first child. They welcomed their son in June 2025.
Us reported in August 2026 that Nathan had been arrested for an alleged domestic violence incident in December 2025 in Australia. Nathan addressed the allegations later that same month, stating he and Gael had parted ways.

June 2024
After connecting on the Mustique, Nathan and Gael quickly established a strong chemistry, which their colleagues noticed. Although Gael was initially hesitant due to an existing relationship, as that romance weakened, Nathan made his intentions clear. Following a crew night out in June, Nathan texted Gael while their cabin mates were asleep, asking, “Where should we meet that has no cameras? The starboard bow locker has no cameras. Let’s go there.”
Gael requested Nathan to notify her when he arrived and if he got “caught.” Audiences saw her leaving her cabin, apprehensive yet intrigued. “What is right and what is wrong? Am I doing the right thing or the wrong thing?” she pondered in a confessional. “Maybe I like him a little tiny bit. Maybe I just want to hang out with him a little bit. I’m not harming anyone.”

Gael’s coworker Aesha came to her aid regarding her bond with Nathan. “It is what it is. They felt like doing what they did at the time. I know Gael will likely face criticism online, but I can vouch for her relationship prior to her time on the boat — it was not stable,” Aesha Scott shared with Us while discussing the season 9 drama. “Some of the messages he would send her and the way he communicated wasn’t very nice. Their relationship had insecurities right from the start.”

“With Gael, it just happened incredibly fast. We clicked and built a very strong bond. Over time, we just went with the flow,” Nathan expressed to Us. “I didn’t want to put pressure on her. It was all about enjoying the moment.”
January 2025
After season 9 concluded, the status of Nathan and Gael’s relationship remained uncertain. They appeared solid before reports surfaced of a brief breakup that was followed by a reconciliation.
“I know it’s a bit late for year-end reflections, but 2024 was unforgettable 🎉. So many wonderful moments to cherish: I traveled over 4 continents, became a dive instructor, received my MOY 200gt designation, appeared on Below Deck S9, and reunited with my partner. Yet, there were challenges too. I faced a serious bike accident and experienced deep emotional lows while navigating it alone,” Gael shared on Instagram. “But 2024, I thank you for the friendships, opportunities, highs, lows, and lessons. 2025 will surely challenge me, but I look forward to it ❤️🎉.”
Latter that month, Gael confirmed that she was still with Nathan and that they were expecting their first child.
May 2025
“The butterfly effect is at work… Had we not agreed to a boat filled with cameras, we wouldn’t be here,” Gael posted on Instagram alongside photos with Nathan. “Life is crazy like that. I’m forever grateful for every twist that led us to this little miracle.”

Reflecting on her relationship with Nathan, Gael expressed on Instagram, “We met on a boat, traveled across 12 countries, experienced unimaginable things, and now we prepare for our most exciting adventure yet… becoming parents. Happy birthday to my partner in this journey.”

“Welcome to the world, my love,” Gael announced alongside a photo of her and Nathan with their newborn son, Kayden. “3.562 kg and 52 cm” (7.8 lbs and 20 inches).
She added: “The love that brought you into this world is beyond perfect.”

Kayden made his Below Deck Med debut in season 11. While Nathan worked on the yacht, Gael managed solo parenting from a rental close by, meeting up with Nathan in between charters.
“Introducing our little man to @captainsandrayawn and @aesha_jean was incredibly special,” Gael posted on Instagram after the episode aired. “They have always been wonderfully supportive over the years. Meeting more crew and making new friends has been lovely! Moments like these are unforgettable 🤍.”
August 2026
Us reported on August 19 that Nathan faced arrest in December 2025 in Australia for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, choking a person without consent, and common assault.
The New South Wales Police confirmed Nathan was arrested on December 27, 2025, following an alleged incident involving a 29-year-old woman at a Sydney-area apartment building (Gael was 29 at the time of the incident).
Us also confirmed Nathan was the subject of an Apprehended Violence Application filed on behalf of Gael in New South Wales. This legal order is designed to protect a person fearing violence or harassment, according to the NSW Government’s official website.
Nathan spoke out about the allegations on August 26 with Rolling Stone, stating, “I’m not claiming I was perfect. I made mistakes and accept responsibility for my actions.”
Nathan continued, claiming he had “evidence” to provide context to the situation, including video footage and messages from the night in question. He noted, “I want the opportunity for the other side to be heard and for the evidence to be reviewed.”
He later confirmed his split from Gael, mentioning, “There are also matters regarding the relationship that I have never publicly discussed, including past allegations she made about another partner and financial issues about an apartment purchase in Sydney.”
Nathan concluded, “I’m not seeking revenge nor asking anyone to take my side; I just want my voice to be heard.”
