White Lotus Season 4: Key Details on Locations and All-Star Cast
While most information regarding season 4 of The White Lotus remains confidential, there are indications about potential locations and cast members.
The HBO series, which premiered in 2021, centers on the experiences of guests and staff at a fictional resort as they navigate various personal challenges during their vacations. This anthology series is also famous for featuring a mysterious death or two that unfolds by the end of each season.
Season 1 took place in Hawaii and showcased a talented ensemble cast that included Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, Fred Hechinger, Jake Lacy, Brittany O’Grady, Natasha Rothwell, Sydney Sweeney, Steve Zahn, and Molly Shannon.
The second season transitioned to a tropical resort in Sicily, with Coolidge returning alongside F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Meghann Fahy, Beatrice Grannò, Tom Hollander, Sabrina Impacciatore, Michael Imperioli, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Will Sharpe, Simona Tabasco, and Leo Woodall.
Season 3 was set in Thailand, featuring another impressive cast that included Rothwell, Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, Lek Patravadi, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Tayme Thapthimthong, and Aimee Lou Wood.
Though creator Mike White has been tight-lipped about specific plans for the future, he has offered a glimpse of what viewers might anticipate.
“I’ve explored Buddhism, and Thailand resonated with the themes I aimed to delve into,” he shared with The Hollywood Reporter in April 2025. “The show revolves around identity and desire — while my cheeky side wants to figure out how to create something that’s both risqué and humorous.”
In a post-season 3 finale interview, White hinted at wanting a change, stating, “For the fourth season, I’m eager to shift away from the crashing waves against the rocks theme. However, more murders at the White Lotus hotels are always on the table.”

Where Might Season 4 Be Set?
HBO’s head of drama, Francesca Orsi, hinted at potential locations in February 2024, stating to Deadline, “We’re planning some location scouting soon, so we’ll have more clarity shortly. While I can’t disclose specifics yet, it’s likely somewhere in Europe.”
Orsi mentioned there were “several countries on our radar, but nothing is confirmed until scouting is complete.”
In contrast, White’s long-time producing partner David Bernad dismissed speculation that season 4 would feature a colder setting.
“Mike isn’t a fan of the cold,” Bernad informed The Guardian in February 2025. Given that all previous seasons of The White Lotus were filmed at Four Seasons resorts, it would be prudent to examine the hotel chain’s locations for potential sites that could inspire White’s next setting.
It was later announced that season 4 will take place in France.
When Will Season 4 Begin Production?
Variety noted that production is being considered for 2026 after the series was renewed for a fourth season.

Who Will Be Featured in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 4?
In December 2025, it was announced that The Hunger Games star Alexander Ludwig and former Disney Channel sensation AJ Michalka would join the cast for season 4 in undisclosed roles.
Which Actors Have Expressed Interest in Joining the Show?
The more pertinent question might be who hasn’t indicated interest. Previously, Elizabeth Banks, Janelle James, Hayden Panettiere, James Marsden, and Sheryl Lee Ralph have all expressed a desire to join The White Lotus. Additionally, Jamie Lee Curtis, Bette Midler, Pamela Anderson, and Jennifer Aniston have voiced their enthusiasm for participating.
Will Past Characters Make Appearances in Future Seasons?
Although a few actors have returned for multiple seasons — including Coolidge and Rothwell — other cast members have shown interest in reuniting existing characters. (With White’s history on a season of Survivor, an “all-stars” season isn’t out of the question.)
Schwarzenegger suggested an on-screen introduction between him, Lacy, and James. Meanwhile, HBO CEO Casey Bloys noted that Shannon and Posey’s characters may share a past.
Who Won’t Be Back for Season 4?
During season 3’s airing in April 2025, the show’s composer, Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, confirmed to The New York Times that he would not be returning due to disagreements about the theme song. White subsequently mentioned to The Hollywood Reporter that he felt Tapia de Veer “didn’t respect” him.
