Taylor Swift Opens Up About Challenging Wardrobe Malfunctions on the ‘Eras Tour’
Taylor Swift encountered a few wardrobe mishaps during the Eras Tour, but she handled them with grace.
The 36-year-old singer discussed her fashion blunders in a trailer for episodes 3 and 4 of her End of an Era docuseries, shared on Disney+’s official Instagram on Thursday, December 18. In the clip, she reminisced about a fashion slip that led to an unfortunate incident, yet Swift seamlessly continued her performance.
“One time, I tripped over the hem of my dress, skimmed the palm of my hand off, [started hearing the music to ‘Ready For It’ playing and] wasn’t late,” she recalled in the trailer.
In another part of the teaser, Swift showcased the gold version of her Roberto Cavalli catsuit. “I’ve never had an alternative outfit for the Reputation section,” she expressed about the design, which she first wore in Miami in October 2024. “Not once.”
Off-camera, a voice noted, “Those quick changes are like nothing you’ve ever seen before.”
While many of her wardrobe mishaps went unnoticed by fans, Swift experienced several on stage as well.
In November 2023, while performing in Rio de Janeiro, the heel and sole of her Christian Louboutin shoe broke as she introduced her tour. If fans blinked, they might have missed the incident due to Swift’s professional handling.
In a fun twist, she tossed the broken heel into the audience and continued the performance while walking on her toes like a real-life Barbie doll.
A lucky fan who caught her heel later shared photos of the iconic red sole on social media.
In May 2024, Swift took a brief break during her show to address another minor wardrobe issue while performing in Stockholm.
“Just talk amongst yourselves,” she said to the crowd, according to a viral TikTok video. She then walked over to her piano bench, sat down, and began to adjust the strap of her blue wrap dress, revealing a sparkly gold bra underneath. A crew member promptly came on stage to assist her as she laughed.
After concluding the Eras Tour, Swift discussed her experience of wearing heels nightly while singing and dancing during an August episode of the New Heights podcast, hosted by Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce.
When Jason, 38, asked if Swift missed touring, she replied, “I miss it, but it’s like, it was perfect for what it was.”
She further explained, “It was a lot of physical therapy. It was a lot of being in a state of perpetual physical discomfort.” She compared the physical demands of touring to what Travis, 36, likely endures playing tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.
“I’m not getting hit by huge 300-pounders, but the heels for that long?!” she exclaimed, eyes wide.
Travis chimed in, recalling the first time he visited her “recovery room” while on tour. “When I first saw the recovery room in the hotel after, with the toe spacers,” he laughed.
Swift nodded in agreement, adding that she “got an acupuncture mat.”
