Madi Prewett from Bachelor Nation Shares Her Love for Fasting
Former Bachelor contestant Madi Prewett is opening up about her relationship with food and exploring intermittent fasting.
“For me, food has always served as both comfort and convenience. I often turned to it for solace or enjoyment,” Prewett, 29, shared during the Monday, January 12, episode of her “Stay True” podcast. “Even when reflecting on my faith, it’s about ‘denying your flesh and crucifying your flesh.’ This concept can certainly apply to our eating habits.”
She added, “My flesh craves things like Krispy Kreme donuts, but I realize that indulging in that isn’t the most God-honoring choice at this moment.”
Instead of always yielding to her cravings, Prewett has embraced fasting.
“I love fasting because it beautifully merges starving the flesh and nurturing the spirit,” she said. “It’s not merely about refraining from food; it’s about filling myself with scripture and prayer. Rather than spending time cooking and eating, I dedicate that time to studying the Bible.”
Alongside her fasting routine, Prewett adheres to an “ancient nutrition” meal plan.
“I’ve also incorporated ancient nutrition collagen bone broth protein powder into my smoothies,” she mentioned, referencing a recipe from podcast guest Dr. Josh Axe‘s book The Biblio Diet. “It’s been delicious!”
Prewett has previously addressed her body image struggles, noting that they began after her time on The Bachelor in 2020.
“That experience was tough; I lost about 20 pounds,” she shared on the “Unplanned” podcast in August 2025. “Honestly, I can’t remember what was aired and what wasn’t. I’m not sure I even watched my season all the way through. I have distanced myself from all things Bachelor, and even now, I rarely discuss it.”
During Season 24 of The Bachelor, Peter Weber proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss, only to later pursue finalist Prewett. Their brief rekindled romance lasted a few days before Prewett moved on to marry Grant Troutt in 2021, less than a year later. Prewett and Troutt, 29, welcomed their daughter, Hosanna, in January 2025.
Experiencing pregnancy and childbirth has also impacted Prewett’s self-image.
“It changes everything about your life and body,” she confessed during a July 2025 episode of her podcast. “My skin has been breaking out, I’m dealing with hair loss, and all those challenges.”
Despite her self-consciousness regarding her postpartum body, Prewett hopes her daughter never feels the same way.
“I realized that I constantly tell her that her beauty comes from the Lord and is within her, and that charm can be deceptive,” she reflected. “[It] is essential to model the values you want your children to embody because they will observe your actions before they heed your words.”
