Garrett Wareing of Ransom Canyon Speaks Out on Lucas’ Infidelity
Ransom Canyon has unleashed a wild second season filled with drama that includes a sibling love triangle and infidelity — and now Garrett Wareing is ready to discuss Lucas’ choices.
The latest season, currently available on Netflix, took an unexpected twist when Lauren’s (Lizzy Greene) relationship with Lucas (Wareing) ended dramatically after she kissed his brother, Kit (Casey W. Johnson). Meanwhile, Lucas also made a questionable decision by hooking up with Ashley (Jennifer Ens).
“This is what will spark conversations among the fans,” Wareing, 24, said in an exclusive interview with Us. “Who is at fault? Who bears the blame?”
He recognized that Lauren made a mistake with Lucas before his encounter with Ashley, complicating the issue further due to Ashley’s friendship with Lauren.
“Both Lucas and Lauren wronged each other,” he stated. “One of my final lines this season is, ‘And I have to reckon with that.’ This really sets the stage for Lucas’ growth as he deals with these mistakes.”
The actor hinted that Lucas’ romantic life could see further twists in season 3. When asked about potential new love interests for Lucas, Wareing remarked, “Wouldn’t that be interesting! I believe the writers will definitely take input from fans… who do you envision for Lucas next? As Lucas matures, I think his love life might evolve as well.”
Showrunner April Blair also shared her thoughts on Lucas’ controversial choices.
“With Kit and Lauren, it was a kiss, and she said, ‘Stop.’ Meanwhile, Lucas is getting involved with her best friend in the car. It’s somewhat hypocritical to judge him too harshly for that. But that’s why Lauren returns, and they have their moment,” Blair commented to Us about how the exes find closure in the finale. “She is remorseful, and it’s emotional for her to realize that her actions have consequences.”
Blair emphasized that Lauren began to recognize her part in the mess, adding, “It creates a fun, chaotic adventure. There are fans who are equally invested in Kit and Lauren as well as Lauren and Lucas.”
Looking ahead, Blair assured that Lucas would “catch a break or two” after a challenging season. However, Wareing enjoyed the challenges that came with playing the role.

“Our sweet boy Lucas faced so many challenges this season! He really can’t catch a break,” he joked. “But when it comes to character development, there has to be ups and downs — playing that downward spiral as an actor was thrilling for me, and it was a collaborative effort with April and our writers. Lucas is, and will remain, the underdog.”
Blair, Wareing, and even Johnson shared a mutual understanding that Lucas and Lauren are likely the ultimate couple in the show. For now, however, the fictional pair must separate in order to potentially reunite later.
“Ultimately, she remains the love of his life,” Wareing remarked. “When you truly love someone, you have to let them go. Lucas does this because he loves her deeply and simply wants her happiness, whether that includes him or not.”
He concluded: “If Lucas and Lauren aren’t endgame, then I will lose my faith in love. They embody, to me, the idealistic nature of youthful love and longing. I would love to see that dream fulfilled for them.”
