3 New Netflix Series with Nearly 90% on Rotten Tomatoes (January 2026)
This month’s update title might be misleading, as there aren’t three new Netflix shows hitting at least 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes in January.
In reality, only one show has achieved that milestone this month.
Meanwhile, Watch With Us will highlight Netflix’s one show that surpassed 90 percent, along with the two that came closest to that benchmark.
‘Southland’ (2009 – 2013)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 90 percent
If you’re searching for a gripping police procedural drama, Netflix has a compelling option: Southland. It captures some of the raw intensity of The Shield, minus the overwhelming corruption and cop killings. The story centers around Officer Ben Sherman (Ben McKenzie) as he navigates the tough streets of Los Angeles while managing his personal struggles. His training officer, John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz), also plays a significant role, hiding his own secrets out of fear for his reputation among fellow officers.
This series emphasizes character-driven storytelling, featuring a stellar supporting cast that includes Regina King, Shawn Hatosy, Kevin Alejandro, Michael McGrady, and Tom Everett Scott. Although Southland has been off the air for over a decade, we expect it to attract a new audience. It’s an ideal pick for binge-watchers.
Southland will be available on Netflix starting January 16.
‘Land of Sin’ (2026)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 86 percent
Among the growing selection of “Nordic noir” series on Netflix is the newly released Land of Sin, which has secured a spot in the top 10. The series stars Krista Kosonen as Dani Anttila, a detective in Malmö, Sweden, who is juggling the challenge of getting her teenage son, Oliver (Cesar Matijasevic), into drug rehab while adapting to her new partner, Malik (Mohammed Nour Oklah).
When Dani’s former foster son, Silas Duncke (Alexander Persson), is found murdered, her personal and professional lives brutally intersect. Allowing Dani to handle this case raises ethical concerns, especially as the investigation strikes a personal chord. Malik’s strict adherence to protocol complicates matters, as Dani is willing to bend the rules to uncover the truth.
Land of Sin is currently streaming on Netflix.
‘Bridgerton’ (2020 – Present)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 84 percent
Netflix’s hit period romance series Bridgerton is set to return with a new season later this month. Penelope Bridgerton (Nicola Coughlan) may have revealed herself as Lady Whistledown in season 3, but her alter ego (voiced by the iconic Julie Andrews) is still set to make appearances, especially under the Queen Charlotte’s (Golda Rosheuvel) requests. A new social season brings fresh gossip.
This upcoming season will focus on the budding romance between Penelope’s brother-in-law, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), and a newcomer, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). From the onset, their chemistry is palpable, but as always, romantic complications arise in Bridgerton. This season will be divided into two parts, with remaining episodes set for release at the end of February.
Bridgerton seasons 1 – 3 are available for streaming on Netflix. Season 4, part 1 is currently available for viewing.
