Kayla Reid, Ryan Lochte’s Ex, Shares Divorce Update: ‘Not in a Good Place’
Kayla Rae Reid is prepared to offer insights into her new life after her separation from estranged husband Ryan Lochte.
“Clearly, we’re not in a good spot,” Reid, 34, revealed in an interview with People published on Wednesday, February 4. “I truly hope he becomes the father our kids deserve.”
In June 2025, Reid announced her decision to file for divorce from Lochte, 41, after spending seven years married. Together, they have three children: Caiden, 8, Liv, 6, and Georgia, 2.
During this period of separation, Reid indicates they are “parallel parenting” while maintaining “minimal interaction” with each other.
“I wish him all the best,” she commented before providing an update on the divorce. “It could still be a long journey ahead. I would really like to finalize the divorce.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Lochte’s attorney for a response.
Last month, Lochte moved into a new residence with his girlfriend, Molly Gillihan. At that time, the Olympic swimmer told People that he was proud of the progress he has made in the past year, including “attending rehab, recommitting my life to Christ, engaging in therapy, and making choices that prioritize my children.”
While Reid didn’t comment on Lochte’s new relationship, the real estate agent confirmed that she is opting to stay single.
“My priority is my kids and constructing the future I envision for us,” she expressed. “[The kids are] doing well. They have a wonderful group of friends and an excellent school. Naturally, they face some challenges and confusion about the situation.”
At the beginning of the year, Reid and her close friend Caroline Lunny launched a brand new podcast titled “The Comeback Era.”
The duo aims to release weekly episodes featuring “authentic, real, and resilient conversations.”
“We thought, ‘How can we create a show to inspire women and show them that hitting rock bottom isn’t a failure?’” Reid elaborated. “The act of redemption and regaining control of your life, having a do-over—it’s truly a gift from God. So why not share that journey with others as we learn along the way?”
While fans will need to tune in to discover how much Reid reveals about her personal life, the mother of three has previously offered insights into her mindset as she embraces this new chapter.
In October 2025, Reid reintroduced herself on social media, stating, “I’m currently navigating a complex divorce, and I can tell you — divorce can feel like being stuck in time. I’m taking this period to rebuild, rediscover who I am, and pursue my dreams with clarity and courage.”
In her recent interview, Reid expressed she often reflects on the woman she was before her marriage ended.
“I admire the woman I used to be. Of course, I’m proud of my growth and what I’ve overcome, but I would like to rediscover aspects of her,” she noted. “I look back and think, ‘Wow, this year, I can’t believe what I endured.’ I’ve said it countless times, but I have no idea where I would be without my girlfriends and family. They have truly supported me throughout this past year.”
