3. ‘The Beguiled’ (2017)

IMDb rank: 6.3

Sofia Coppola both wrote and directed this modern adaptation of The Beguiled, set during the final days of the Civil War. Nicole Kidman portrays Martha Farnsworth, the head of an all-girls school in Virginia, alongside only one other teacher, Edwina Morrow (Kirsten Dunst), amidst a dwindling student body.

The school’s routine is disrupted when a seriously injured Union soldier, Corporal John McBurney (Colin Farrell), is found nearby. Rather than hand him over to the Confederate army, the women and girls become involved with John, leading to tension and rivalry as his survival depends on the favors of those he chooses.

The Beguiled is available to stream on Prime Video.

2. ‘The Vow’ (2012)

IMDb rank: 6.8

In The Vow, the bond between Leo Collins (Channing Tatum) and his wife, Paige (Rachel McAdams), faces immediate tests after a tragic car accident leaves Paige without any memories of Leo. This situation revives the interest of Paige’s estranged family who see it as an opportunity to re-enter her life. Meanwhile, Leo realizes he is becoming a stranger to the woman he loves.

1. ‘Hook’ (1991)

IMDb rank: 6.8

The brilliant choice of casting the late Robin Williams as an adult Peter Pan comes from director Steven Spielberg. Hook immerses viewers in a narrative where Peter, now a corporate lawyer, has forgotten his roots as a Lost Boy. However, his nemesis, Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman), hasn’t forgotten him and retaliates by kidnapping Peter’s children, Jack (Charlie Korsmo) and Maggie Banning (Amber Scott).

Julia Roberts plays Tinkerbell, whose affection for Peter runs deep. With her help, Peter returns to Neverland, reconnecting with the Lost Boys. Yet, he must rediscover the essence of his childhood if he hopes to defeat Hook and be reunited with his family.

Hook is available for streaming on Prime Video.
