David Beckham’s Kids Request ‘Perks’ from His Knighthood
Sir David Beckham was privileged to be knighted by King Charles III, though his children had some clarifying questions about what it all entailed.
“The only thing that changed was the stationery that I use for thank you letters. That’s really the only difference,” Beckham, 51, shared during the Friday, March 27, episode of the talkSport radio show. “My kids asked me, ‘Do we get any special privileges? Like any?’”
David has sons Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, along with daughter Harper, 14, with his wife Victoria Beckham. (David and Victoria, 51, are currently at odds with Brooklyn after tensions arising from his 2022 wedding to actress Nicola Peltz Beckham.)
David received his knighthood from Charles, 77, in November 2025, promptly following up with his kids to clarify that there weren’t any added benefits.
“I said, ‘Well, aside from the ones you already have, definitely not,’” the retired soccer star joked on Friday. “The ceremony was incredible. It was probably the best day of my life, apart from, of course, the births of my kids and my wedding. It was truly special.”
David’s sons Romeo and Cruz both publicly celebrated their father’s royal recognition following the initial announcement in June 2025.
“I’m so proud of you, Dad, I love you. Sir David Beckham sounds wonderful!” Cruz expressed via his Instagram Stories, while Romeo posted, “So proud of you.”
David, who was previously honored with an OBE in 2021 from the late Queen Elizabeth II, had Victoria and his parents present during the investiture ceremony.
“It was everything. We are both so patriotic and so proud to be British,” Victoria shared about the ceremony on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in December 2025. “For David to be knighted by the King of our country was profoundly meaningful. It was a total ‘pinch me’ moment. I believe the entire nation is so proud of him and all that he has accomplished.”
According to the former Spice Girl, her husband’s recognition was “well-deserved.”
“We are incredibly proud of him,” she commented at the time. “What he has done for the sport, alongside his philanthropic endeavors, is remarkable. We are just so proud of him; it’s so deserved.”
David and Victoria’s eldest son, Brooklyn, did not publicly acknowledge the honor and has had limited contact with his family.
“I do not wish to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled; I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” Brooklyn mentioned in a January statement. “I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every day grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.”
He concluded, “My wife and I do not want a life dictated by image, media, or manipulation. All we desire is peace, privacy, and happiness for ourselves and our future family.”
While David and Victoria haven’t directly addressed the allegations, they both shared social media tributes on Brooklyn’s 27th birthday earlier in March. A source later informed Us Weekly that Brooklyn “ignored” the messages.
“He is still distancing himself and is not communicating with his parents,” the insider exclusively revealed to Us earlier this month. “They are making efforts, but Brooklyn has not responded.”
