Kylie Kelce Expresses ‘Underlying Anger’ About Unwanted Parenting Advice
Kylie Kelce is being refreshingly candid about handling “unwanted parenting advice” as a mother of four.
“You know, when people see you out with your child and say, ‘They should have a hat on,’ I’m thinking, ‘You should mind your own f***ing business,’” Kelce, 33, joked on the Sunday, March 29, episode of the “Sunday Sports Club” podcast. “‘She should be wearing socks.’ That’s fantastic, do you have any? Because the three pairs I brought are already on the ground, so you can handle that however you wish.”
Kylie and her husband Jason Kelce are the proud parents of four daughters: Wyatt, 6, Ellie, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finnley, who will celebrate her first birthday on Monday, March 30.
“Sometimes I just feel this underlying frustration when people offer unsolicited advice,” Kylie confessed to podcast host Allison Kuch, who is expecting her second child. “The comments that come off as uninvited advice often make me feel like, ‘I could resolve this quickly with a punch in the face.’”
Without resorting to threats of violence, Kylie admits she finds it exhausting to hear “unhelpful advice” aimed at her situation.
“It’s the pointless comments about socks, hats, and ‘they shouldn’t be outside in this weather,’” she explained. “It’s things like that where you’re thinking, ‘Actually, we’re only going from the car ten steps into this Dunkin Donuts so I can grab what Mom refers to as sanity juice, a.k.a. coffee. I need you to be so far away from me that you’re in a different zip code.’”
Kylie also has little patience for the “just wait” remarks, where another mom tells her to anticipate easier times ahead.
“The ‘just wait’ comments are particularly difficult when you’ve experienced that phase of motherhood and someone else is currently in it,” the field hockey coach remarked. “Sometimes it’s meant in jest, but as a mom who has endured nearly every phase—including joy, struggles, and postpartum experiences—there are times for humor with a fellow mom. Sometimes it misses the mark, and I try my best to avoid using ‘just wait’ in a negative tone.”
Kylie added, “I strive to give people as much grace as I can summon at the moment.”
Kylie and retired NFL star Jason, 37, have been married since 2017 and frequently discuss their experiences as a growing family.
“We remain close to family and friends, so we keep our support system very tight,” Kylie exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2024, discussing their approach to raising “humble” kids. “We ensure that everything we do supports them with family and friends while also not placing them in any areas of privilege.”
