Sia Settles on $42K Monthly Child Support Payment to Ex-Partner

Sia has come to an agreement to pay ex Dan Bernad a substantial sum for child support following their divorce.

As per court documents acquired by Us Weekly on Monday, April 6, the “Cheap Thrills” singer, 50, has agreed to remit $42,500 monthly to Bernad for the care of their 2-year-old son, Somersault. These payments commenced on April 1 and will persist until Somersault reaches 18 years old. (Sia is also the mother of two sons she adopted during her teenage years in foster care.)

Along with child support, Sia will be responsible for her son’s private school tuition, agreed-upon extracurricular activities, and uninsured medical expenses, as specified in the documents. Additionally, she will cover her child’s health insurance.

The former couple, who separated in March 2025, now share joint legal custody of Somersault and will adhere to a designated holiday schedule. Bernad will have the child for Father’s Day and Jewish holidays such as Yom Kippur, Passover, and Hanukkah. Conversely, Sia will have custody on Mother’s Day, Easter, and Christmas. They will alternate custody for Thanksgiving, Halloween, and other holiday breaks.

The custody agreement between Sia and Bernad will take effect in May.

Us Weekly has reached out to Sia for her comments.

Sia and Bernad were married in May 2023 at the villa of fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in Portofino, Italy.

Two years later, Sia initiated divorce proceedings. In her divorce filing in March 2025, she disclosed their shared son while requesting both legal and physical custody.

Later that year, Bernad submitted his own request for over $250,000 monthly in spousal support. According to documents obtained by Us in October 2025, Bernad claimed he had been unemployed since April 2025 after receiving notice that Sia’s company would be terminating funding to their business, Modern Medicine. He stated he was surviving on “monthly payments from Sia” that would end in October 2025.

“I have no income, no real property, no retirement savings, and very limited funds in my bank account. I cannot sustain this litigation without significant contributions from Sia towards my attorney’s and forensic accounting fees. Sia has a greater ability to cover both of our legal expenses,” Bernad asserted in the documents. “Therefore, I respectfully request the Court to equalize the situation and order Sia to contribute no less than $300,000 for my attorney’s fees and costs, along with $200,000 for my forensic accounting fees and costs.”
