Ryan Reynolds Celebrates Blake Lively Following Lawsuit Resolution
One week after resolving her legal dispute with Justin Baldoni, Blake Lively garnered heartfelt recognition from her husband, Ryan Reynolds, in a touching Mother’s Day message.
On Sunday, May 10, Reynolds, 49, took to his Instagram Stories to celebrate Lively, 38, following her settlement with her It Ends With Us costar and director, 42, just before their trial was set to begin on Monday, May 18.
“I appreciate this mother beyond measure,” the Deadpool & Wolverine star wrote over two images of the couple enjoying time together. “She is kind. She is fearless. She’s the absolute love of my life — and to our four little kids, she’s the life of their love.” (The couple shares daughters James, 11, Inez, 9, and Betty, 6, and son Olin, 3.)
Lively initiated legal action against Baldoni on December 31, 2024, after collaborating on It Ends With Us, released that August. Her lawsuit accused Baldoni of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment, and orchestrating a smear campaign against her—claims he consistently denied before filing a countersuit that was eventually dismissed.
Baldoni and Lively settled their case out of court on Monday, May 4.
Reynolds’ tribute, accompanied by Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition,” came soon after Lively dedicated her own Mother’s Day post to her mother, Elaine Lively. “Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who chooses joy every day, regardless of the circumstances,” the Simple Favor star shared via her Instagram Stories alongside a photo of her mom. “The strength and defiance in that is something I’ll always treasure, especially as I grow older. She makes every day special for everyone around her, particularly her children and grandchildren.”
Lively added, “She isn’t just beautiful; she creates beauty with her hands, her stories, her playfulness, her creativity, her incredible ingenuity, and her love. I am eternally grateful to have been influenced by your heart full of love, optimism, and magic. You transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. I love you. Thank you, Mama.”
Lively and Baldoni issued a joint statement through their attorneys announcing their unexpected settlement last week. “The final product—the movie It Ends With Us—is a source of pride for all of us involved in its creation. Raising awareness and making a meaningful impact on the lives of domestic violence survivors—and all survivors—is a goal we wholeheartedly support,” the statement, obtained by Us Weekly, read. “We acknowledge the process posed challenges and affirm that the concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard.”
The statement continued, “We are firmly committed to maintaining workplaces free from improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including fostering a respectful environment online.”
As Lively approached her trial, Reynolds remained a steadfast source of support, telling Today during its April 19 broadcast that he stood firmly by her side. “I’ll just say, I’ve never been prouder of my wife,” he told journalist Willie Geist at that time.
