Marcus Rosner from Sullivan’s Crossing Stands Up for Liam and Maggie’s Relationship
Sullivan’s Crossing newcomer Marcus Rosner recognizes the challenge he faces after the unexpected husband reveal — but is Liam truly a rival for Maggie and Cal?
“Liam carries a complex backstory and he reemerges from Maggie’s past. As the narrative unfolds, I believe people will find this relatable,” Rosner shared exclusively with Us Weekly. “Working through this is crucial to reaching your ultimate love story.”
Rosner reflected on joining a beloved couple’s dynamic.
“It’s tough to introduce a character in season 4 of a show focused on two people falling in love. Will viewers support Liam? My hope for him is that people can understand his character,” he remarked. “I want them to grasp the history between him and Maggie and recognize that love is complicated, with many chapters in one’s life.”
In season 3, which debuted on Netflix in August 2025, hints at Maggie’s (Morgan Kohan) ex arose as she spoke of Liam, her summer fling, before he ultimately surfaced ahead of season 4 — leading to Maggie’s boyfriend, Cal (Chad Michael Murray), discovering that she was married to Liam.
Rosner has made a significant impact in season 4 of the popular CW series, weighing in on Liam’s potential longevity, stating, “It has yet to be determined if Liam will remain. I would welcome it.”
Looking ahead, Rosner hinted at what’s in store for his character.
“We’re approaching pivotal moments that will challenge the audience — in a positive way, I hope,” he stated. “Considering the complexities of life and relationships we’re exploring, fans need not worry about dissatisfaction…”
He added: “This storyline is centered on Maggie’s journey, and by the season’s end, her love story will come into clearer focus than ever before.”
Despite feeling certain about the show’s trajectory, Rosner expressed how “terrifying” it was to be the new addition to the ensemble, saying, “This show primarily revolves around two people falling in love, and I found myself in the midst of Morgan and Chad Michael Murray — who was every girl’s crush in high school. It was daunting, but I truly believed in the character and found him engaging.”
Rosner admitted he felt “quite intimidated” at first, but appreciated the opportunity to take on this unexpected role following his extensive history in Hallmark films.
“I don’t expect people to be kind simply because I’m friendly. I completely understand their right to respond to a beloved story, and that passion is essential,” he shared with Us. “I’ve observed mixed reactions, with some fascinated and others protective of Maggie and Cal. Competing against someone like Chad Michael Murray doesn’t simplify matters either. I approach it with open eyes and am genuinely thankful for the fans’ enthusiasm.”
