Kristen Stewart Shatters Cannes Dress Code with Sheer Top

Kristen Stewart refused to adhere to the Cannes Film Festival dress code, choosing instead to showcase some skin.

On Saturday, May 16, Stewart, 36, broke the rules by donning a sheer top at the Full Phil photocall. She opted to go braless beneath a Chanel blouse that featured a deep neckline, a relaxed collar, and delicate pockets. To complete her look, she paired it with a translucent gray skirt that revealed her micro shorts.

This daring ensemble comes after the festival imposed a ban on naked dresses. As stated on the official website, “For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the Red Carpet, as well as in any other area of the Festival.”

Cannes also prohibits “voluminous outfits, particularly those with a large train, which can obstruct the movement of guests and complicate seating in the theatre.” To enforce these guidelines, the “welcoming teams will be tasked with denying Red Carpet access to those who do not comply.” The site further clarified, “Proper attire is adequate for all other screenings.”

Later that evening, Stewart appeared to dare the rules again in a striking red-and-black Chanel gown. This dress featured a boat neckline and crochet details that revealed her black bra and high-waisted underwear. She accessorized with a red ribbon Chanel watch and a diamond star ring.

Additionally, she flouted another of Cannes’ unofficial guidelines by opting for Ruby Brown sneakers instead of heels. Attendees are allowed to wear “elegant” shoes or sandals, with or without a heel.

For her glam, Stewart looked stunning with a flawless makeup look. She sported dewy skin, defined eyebrows, brown eyeshadow blended into her crease, bronzed cheeks, and long lashes. Her bold red lips perfectly complemented her dress. To finish her appearance, Stewart styled her brunette hair in a chic updo.
