What Transpired Between Maddy and Alamo in Euphoria? Clarifying the Confusion

Euphoria has left viewers perplexed during its seasons, leading to questions about the interaction between Maddy and Alamo.

Before the season 3 finale, Maddy (Alexa Demie) sought financial help from Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) after Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) discovered that Nate (Jacob Elordi) only had 72 hours left to live. Alamo insisted that Maddy wear a bathing suit and enter the hot tub while he showered her with compliments.

In the end, Alamo agreed to provide Maddy with the $1 million needed to save Nate, but the scene abruptly cut off. This left viewers speculating whether Maddy had to sleep with Alamo to secure the deal; however, that remained unconfirmed.

Later, Alamo told Maddy that he would take 20 percent of her future earnings. This revelation became more significant when they discovered Nate’s body, making Maddy realize her deal was in vain. In the series finale, Maddy was presented with a life alongside Alamo—just before his demise.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje, for his part, shared his thoughts with Us Weekly regarding the scene.

“It was an interesting scene with many layers, very loaded,” he noted in May, adding that his character “had orchestrated the entire sequence” with Maddy.

“From the bathing suit to the music to the champagne, he had a clear plan,” he explained. “Sam [Levinson, the creator] and I discussed this. While it was flirtation on Alamo’s part, there’s an underlying reality that says, ‘You will do what I instruct you to do now.’”

He continued, “To answer your question, did he sleep with her? Well, he wasn’t there just to play around. For the request she made—taking a life and providing a million dollars—yes, he undoubtedly did what he needed to do with that beautiful lady.”

Prior to the finale, the series shocked fans with Nate’s death.

“That was a cool way to go. Nate made numerous mistakes and dark choices,” Elordi reflected in a segment following the May 24 episode. “It’s interesting to see how it all culminated.”

Elordi recalled braving the experience of filming inside a coffin, stating, “My shoulders were pressed against the sides, and I couldn’t move my arms. Then they’d close the lid, and it would go dark. It was surprisingly peaceful in there.”

The stunt team emphasized the importance of ensuring the actor had access to oxygen, praising Elordi for his willingness to spend “minimal time in the coffin.” However, viewers may be astonished to discover that creator Sam Levinson “wanted to film with a real snake,” featuring both a rattlesnake and a boa constrictor on screen.

“The snakes rattled, which was quite alarming when locked in a box,” Elordi noted. “They even had a boa constrictor with a fake rattler attached.”

He added, “He was quite adorable and cuddly. He kind of nestled next to me, which was nice. But he was also really sleepy. I had to gently nudge him to get him to move around. And that was it.”

At the end of the segment, Elordi reflected on his journey playing Nate.

“It’s a bittersweet experience,” he said. “This show has played a massive role in—not just my career—but my life. It has been incredible, and I’m proud to be part of it.”

Elordi has portrayed Nate since the series launched in 2019. Before the new season premiered, Elordi teased how viewers would reconnect with Nate in the third and possibly final season.

“I recently finished filming a new season, and it’s entirely different,” he conveyed during a December 2025 episode of Variety’s Actors on Actors interview. “I genuinely believe he will be kinder.”

Elordi concluded, “Whether it resonates positively or not, I’m unsure. There’s a possibility what I portrayed didn’t hit the mark.”
