Sheriff Country’s Michele Weaver Shares How She Concealed Her Pregnancy
Sheriff Country‘s Michele Weaver shared the measures she took to conceal her pregnancy on the show.
“It seems you all have enjoyed clips of me hiding my belly last season … so here it is!! 😂,” Weaver captioned an Instagram video on Wednesday, June 10, filmed on set of the popular CBS series. “This is what happens when you film until 38 weeks pregnant!!!”
Weaver, who portrays Cassidy, previously addressed her absence in recent episodes on social media in May, stating, “People keep asking if I was written off. Nope .. just had to leave to have a baby.”
She added: “I’m back next week! Don’t miss tonight’s episode! If you think you know what’s going to happen next… trust me.. you don’t.”
In an April episode of the hit CBS series, Cassidy finally cracked the case of her missing sister. This involved her being kidnapped by a serial killer who had been evading justice for years.
Though Mickey (Morena Baccarin) rescued Cassidy just in time, the deputy requested some time off. The final scene depicted Cassidy and her mother driving away together as they healed from their loss.
The network has already renewed Sheriff Country for a second season, with Weaver expected to reprise her role as Cassidy. Sheriff Country also stars Baccarin, Christopher Gorham, Matt Lauria and W. Earl Brown, while Amanda Arcuri and Ian Quinlan have been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming season.
Concerns regarding Cassidy’s future arise after Sheriff Country‘s predecessor, Fire Country, faced backlash due to budget cuts that led to the exits of Billy Burke and Stephanie Arcila.
“It’s a fire show. Anyone can go at any time,” showrunner Tia Napolitano told Us Weekly in October 2025. “But in terms of losing people, we’re also adding some really fun guest cast. It’s a revolving door of people from Sharon’s past and new faces that bring exciting conflicts, secrets, and twists.”
Napolitano hinted that the show aims to combine “spicing it up” while also honoring the losses incurred.
“What we’ve managed to do is honor — especially Vince — as Gabriella has moved on to a successful life. She’s still out there. But we carefully honor Vince while also finding hope fairly quickly,” she stated. “Looking ahead, the theme for the season is rising from the ashes and recovery.”
Napolitano further elaborated: “How do you recover from something like this? We’re really going to see everyone rise to the occasion, celebrating Vince, his life, and honoring the sacrifices he made.”
After her conversation with Us, news broke that Napolitano would also be leaving the show. It was announced in March that Eric Guggenheim will take over her role. According to Deadline, Guggenheim joins after previously serving as showrunner of Magnum P.I. and co-showrunner of Hawaii Five-0.
Sheriff Country is set to return in fall 2026.
