Kim Kardashian, Bella Hadid, and Rihanna are iconic figures that instantly come to mind. In 2024, these and other trendsetters kept Us guessing with their eye-catching street style, providing a wealth of sartorial inspiration throughout the year.
In August, Kardashian, 44, flaunted her signature look — a figure-hugging beige bodycon dress paired with Balenciaga pantaloons and pointed toe heels — surprisingly accentuated by a playful furry yellow handbag from the brand that created her daughter North West’s Lion King costume.
Marketed as “ethically sourced and handcrafted in California from the softest sheepskin hides,” ERL’s messenger bag was reminiscent of the custom costume North wore during her performance at Disney’s The Lion King live-to-film concert at the Hollywood Bowl in May. (North played Young Simba and belted out “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” dressed in a custom furry zip-up hoodie, matching shorts, socks, and furry slippers.)
Directed by creative powerhouse Eli Russell Linnetz, who has previously collaborated with Lady Gaga and Kardashian’s ex-husband, Kanye West, the Venice-based brand has shot campaigns for both Yeezy and Skims. Keep an eye out for their name shining bright, or more fittingly, stitched onto labels, as this will not be the last collaboration we see from them.
Meanwhile, Hadid, 28, effectively established the cowgirl aesthetic this year, enjoying rodeo date nights with her cowboy partner Adan Banuelos and attending Fashion Week from the front row. The supermodel’s appearances in leather chaps and cowboy boots gradually evolved into subtle nods to Western style. A notable instance was on December 13, when she donned a 2002 archival Roberto Cavalli Canadian tuxedo featuring a contoured, corseted jacket paired with an eyelet-studded pencil skirt.
Rihanna, 36, showcased a masterclass in flamboyant fashion during a Mother’s Day date night, sporting a slogan-filled Comme des Garçons graphic dress alongside a Gucci horsebit clutch (with her partner A$AP Rocky at her side, of course). With a skirt featuring a daring slit, the Savage Fenty founder completed her look with red tulle gloves that seemed to be inspired by her lingerie collection.
