Reasons Behind Ariana Grande’s Departure from American Horror Story Season 13

Ariana Grande will no longer be featured in American Horror Story after her casting in season 13.

Deadline reported on Friday, July 10, that Grande, 33, has departed from the horror series due to conflicts in her schedule. The singer is currently on her Eternal Sunshine Tour, which has faced some adjustments alongside American Horror Story’s production timeline.

Recently, Grande rescheduled several concerts in July, including her shows in Brooklyn and Boston. The tour, wrapping up in September, will include stops in New York, Canada, Chicago, and London.

According to reports, Grande did not film any scenes for the upcoming season, which is set to debut on September 24.

Last year, the show’s creator Ryan Murphy announced via Instagram that Grande would be part of American Horror Story season 13. The duo had previously collaborated on Murphy’s series Scream Queens, where Grande portrayed Chanel No. 2.

Grande’s casting in American Horror Story followed her success in Wicked, where she starred as Glinda. She has been busy with various projects, including a role in the upcoming Fockers film, Focker-in-Law, set to hit theaters on November 25. She is also set to reunite with her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey in a new stage adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s musical, Sunday In The Park With George.

Later this month, Grande will also release her eighth studio album, Petal, scheduled for release on July 31.

In addition to Grande, Murphy disclosed that the cast of American Horror Story would include several returning actors. Notable names include Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, among others, who will be returning for season 13. Longtime fans expressed their enthusiasm for both Lange, 77, and Peters, 39, rejoining the anthology series.

“Miss Lange mentioned she’d only return if Ryan Murphy crafted a strong script again, hypeeee,” one user commented on Murphy’s post, while several others shared memes of Peters’ previous roles in the series.
