Summer House Launches Exciting New Spinoff in Canada

Summer House is expanding its reach internationally.

The Hollywood Reporter reported on Thursday, July 9, that the Bravo series is set to launch its first international spinoff in Canada, titled Summer House Canada.

This new series will debut next year on NBCUniversal’s reality streaming platform, Hayu, featuring 10 episodes that echo the original format of Summer House. Instead of The Hamptons, however, the backdrop will be Muskoka, Ontario.

Summer House Canada is Hayu’s second original series, following last year’s The Real Housewives of London.

“We’re excited to bring this adaptation of the popular Summer House format to viewers — Muskoka provides the ideal, iconic Canadian setting to launch Summer House Canada and further enhance the franchise’s success,” stated Hendrik McDermott, the international direct-to-consumer managing director, in a statement to THR on Thursday.

Muskoka, often referred to as the “Hamptons of the North,” is known for its 1,600+ lakes and charming cottage towns. The show will follow a group of friends — yet to be cast — as they escape the hustle of Toronto for summer weekends.

Lark Productions, based in Vancouver, will handle the production.

Summer House has established itself as a cherished global franchise, celebrated for its genuine friendships, vibrant personalities, and the unforgettable moments that arise from a summer together,” said Erin Haskett, president and executive producer of Lark Productions, in an interview with THR on Thursday. “We are thrilled to expand this narrative by showcasing the Canadian summer experience to fans everywhere.”

Excitingly, the announcement of Summer House Canada follows the news that the original Bravo series received its first Emmy nomination just a day prior.

Summer House first hit the screens on Bravo in 2017 and has enjoyed 10 successful seasons. The latest season, which concluded last month, was marked by more off-screen drama than on-screen, including the revelation that Amanda Batula and West Wilson are in a relationship.

Amanda, 34, was formerly married to her Summer House co-star Kyle Cooke, with their separation announced in January. West, on the other hand, had previously dated Amanda’s best friend Ciara Miller.

The couple confirmed their relationship in late March, just days before filming the season 10 reunion. The intense three-part event centered on the dynamics of Amanda and West’s relationship, as the cast sought to establish a timeline of events concerning their romance.

Us Weekly has now confirmed that both Amanda and West will not return for Summer House season 11, which fans believe began filming in The Hamptons last weekend.

Summer House is now available for streaming on Peacock.
