Selena Gomez’s Mom Addresses Rumors About Her Daughters’ “Issues”
Selena Gomez’s mother, Mandy Teefey, didn’t shy away from responding to a fan’s vague remark regarding her “issues” with her daughters.
On Sunday, July 12, Mandy, 50, took to Instagram to post several photos featuring Gomez, 33, and her youngest daughter, Gracie Elliot Teefey.
“My greatest achievements, love me or not,” Mandy wrote in the caption. “They are the coolest. I hope one day they realize what a bad ass I am and reciprocate the love I have for them. I’m just mom. Who never gives up when they toss me aside.”
She ended her caption on a more hopeful note, adding, “I tell ya mom you’re doing it wrong, maybe so, we’ll see. But regardless, I’ve got your back.”
Although Mandy was merely joking around with her daughters in the caption, some fans interpreted it as an admission of having issues with Gomez and Gracie, 13.
“WTF, Mandy. If you’re dealing with problems, this isn’t the way to go about it on social media,” one commenter suggested.
In response, Mandy quickly clarified that she was in a good place with her daughters, saying, “Girl. It’s just [a typical] mom joke that’s not cool. Chill out. Lol.”
Mandy not only posted photos of Selena and Gracie but also included several memes in her post. One meme depicted a messy Barbie doll climbing out of a trash can with the caption, “Me when I have to run the business I manifested.”
Another image featured a text overlay on a blue sky that read, “Just to clarify, I’m that loyal friend who would take a bullet for you. But I’m probably also the reason we’re getting shot at. Balance is key.”
Mandy shares her eldest daughter with Rick Gomez and welcomed Gracie with her husband, Brian Teefey, in June 2013.
The matriarch shares a close bond with both daughters, although there were previous rumors suggesting she was upset for not being able to walk Selena down the aisle during her wedding to Benny Blanco in September 2025. Instead, Selena’s grandfather had that honor.
“This is ludicrous!” she responded to the speculation via social media. “It was heartwarming for him to walk her down the aisle!”
Meanwhile, an exclusive source told Us that Mandy played a significant role in her daughter’s wedding day by delivering an “emotional” speech.
Mandy also shared her thoughts on the wedding through a social media post. “What a perfect celebration for the most amazing couple I know! The evening was absolutely beautiful and flawless! All my love to my gorgeous daughter @selenagomez and to the greatest son-in-law @itsbennyblanco!!!” she wrote in a post shared on September 28, 2026.
