Cardi B Reveals She Underwent Butt Reduction and Shares Her Reasons Behind It

Cardi B is discussing her recent body transformation.

“Many of you keep suggesting I should reduce my behind. Just so you know, I’ve actually had it reduced,” the 33-year-old rapper of “Imaginary Playerz” stated during a recent Instagram livestream, a clip of which is being shared again on X.

She explained, “I can’t just go and [liposuction] my butt because my skin is somewhat loose; that’s why it shakes a lot. If I just get a lipo reduction — which would be easy — my behind could sag. So I would have to undergo surgery, and I’m not willing to do that. I’m not going to be out of commission for four months, I’m active, as I’ve said.”

As for why she has a smaller backside now, Cardi mentioned that she made the decision based on her “small” frame. “I’m a petite girl. My mom is petite. My sister’s petite. My aunts are all small,” she noted, as reported by People.

“I appreciate how my body looks now. I’m comfortable in my skin,” she added.

Responding to body criticism, the rapper remarked, “Why are you acting like this is new? You’ve been seeing my body for how many years now? Too many.”

“Why is it that every time I look good, you’re suggesting I’ve had surgery?” she continued. “I haven’t had surgeries since January 2024, and even then, I didn’t get lipo; I just reduced my ass, like you all recommended.”

Previously, Cardi told GQ in 2018 that she had illegally injected filler into her buttocks by an unlicensed individual in a basement in Queens, New York, for $800 when she was 21.

“At 21, I didn’t have enough volume on my body — if I had gotten lipo, there wouldn’t have been enough fat for my behind,” she explained regarding her choice to use filler.

Cardi recalled, “They don’t numb your butt or anything. It was excruciating pain. I thought I would faint. I felt a bit dizzy, and it leaks for about five days.”

At that time, Cardi mentioned to GQ that she intended to return to the practitioner for a touch-up but later learned, “By the time I wanted to go back, she was arrested because someone died on her table.”

Earlier this year, Cardi teased a trip to Colombia for further reduction. “After this tour, I’m planning to take out some,” she said in a video shared by Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Instagram. “Once this tour is over, I don’t want to hear from anyone for three months. I’m heading to Colombia … leave me alone, I’m reducing this ass!”

However, shortly after, she retracted her statement during an appearance on the Today show. “I said that, but I’m not going to go through with it,” the rapper clarified. “I only intended to take out a little, but I really don’t have time for that.”
