Madison Stars Provide Season 3 Update Amid Setbacks with Landman
Despite facing some filming setbacks with Taylor Sheridan‘s Landman, production for season 3 of his acclaimed series The Madison is gearing up—before season 2 has even been released.
“It was actually nice to film a second season before anyone had the chance to watch the first season, as the atmosphere can shift on set once the audience has seen it,” Kevin Zegers shared exclusively with Us at the UFC 331 red carpet event for Paramount+. “Now that we’ve completed the second season, we’re set to start on the third season at the beginning of next year.”
Zegers, 42, who portrays Cade, expressed his happiness regarding the show’s reception, noting, “You never really know what to expect. You might have an inkling with Taylor, but it’s still uncertain if the audience will connect with it. Clearly, it has made an impact, which brings me joy.”
The Madison, which debuted in March, tells the story of the Clyburn family from New York City, who move to the Madison River valley in southwest Montana to seek emotional healing after a tragedy.
Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer lead the cast alongside Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, Alaina Pollack, and Amiah Miller as members of the Clyburn family. The rest of the ensemble includes Ben Schnetzer, Zegers, Rebecca Spence, and Danielle Vasinova.
Before the premiere of season 1, it was announced that season 2 was already in the can—likely to accommodate Russell’s filming schedule. The Madison has now been renewed for a third season, with Vasinova, 44, revealing to Us that filming will commence at the “top of 2027.”
“I was cast in the show in 2024, and our first season aired in 2026, followed by season 2, which is scheduled for the beginning of 2027,” Vasinova teased. “We’ll also be back filming season 3 at the start of 2027, so stay tuned.”
Zegers conveyed his excitement about how the cast has to stay on their toes regarding what’s next.
“Our show feels a bit different since Taylor writes everything all at once. We generally receive a substantial portion of the scripts together because there are six episodes in a season, so it’s not a protracted format each season,” he explained. “But I enjoy it.”
The actor continued, “The characters are what you need to explore, and what evolves in [the] series comes down to adapting to whatever he writes for you. As long as you’re prepared, it’s quite enjoyable and straightforward.”
Zegers deemed his ongoing collaboration with Sheridan a privilege.
“I’ve known Taylor personally for a long time, since he was just an actor, and I’m thrilled about his success. It’s a fantastic story, and I’m grateful to know him. For him to find a role where I could contribute was a tremendous compliment,” he mentioned. “There’s a fair amount of trust he places in whoever he hires, as he doesn’t coddle or micromanage you.”
Zegers elaborated, “The true praise from him lies within the scripts. As we’ve moved through the second season, opening a new script feels like getting a significant boost of encouragement. Whenever I see Cade’s name in it and discover the exciting scenes I get to tackle, it feels like a huge compliment.”
Vasinova shares a similar sentiment. “He’s a living legend, a true pioneer. I have immense admiration, love, and respect for that man,” she told Us.
