Which Chicago Fire Stars Will Return for Season 15, and Who Won’t?
Chicago Fire is undergoing some cast changes, meaning not all characters will return for season 15.
The One Chicago franchise has consistently made news as cast members frequently transition across all three shows: Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. Before the arrival of season 15, it was confirmed by multiple sources that Joe Miñoso would be departing from the popular NBC series.
On the production side, showrunner Andrea Newman has left the show after over a decade of involvement.
Newman, who contributed to Chicago Fire throughout its entire 14-season journey, announced her departure in April, with coexecutive producer Victor Teran stepping into the role. She joined Chicago Fire after the pilot episode as coexecutive producer and was promoted to executive producer, ultimately becoming the sole showrunner in 2023.
“Working on Chicago Fire, alongside the finest cast and crew in the industry, has been the highlight of my career,” Newman stated. “Like many others, I was inspired to pursue TV writing because of Dick [Wolf], and it’s been an honor to work with him and the incredible Wolf team of Peter Jankowski, Rebecca McGill, and Anastasia Puglisi. I am immensely grateful to them, Derek Haas, and the NBC and Universal executives who have continuously supported the show. After 14 years, you really do become family, and working with this team will always feel like home.”
Jankowski also released a separate statement expressing, “We’re sad to say goodbye to Andrea. She has been at the core of the heart and soul of Chicago Fire since its inception, and the show flourished under her guidance. We appreciate her dedication to nurturing the next generation and are confident that the show will be in excellent hands with Victor at the helm.”

Taylor Kinney
Though some cast members will not return, the show cannot proceed without Kinney’s character, Kelly Severide.
David Eigenberg
Eigenberg is anticipated to reprise his role as Herrmann in season 15.
Christian Stolte
Currently, the expectation is that Stolte will return as Mouch.
Joe Miñoso
Miñoso has been portraying firefighter Joe Cruz since the inception of Chicago Fire in 2012. Reports indicate that the actor is likely to appear in several episodes during season 15 before his exit.
Miranda Rae Mayo
Having played Stella since 2016, Mayo is expected to remain on the show despite potential changes behind the scenes.
Hanako Greensmith
Greensmith is expected to continue her role as Violet.
Jocelyn Hudon
The expectation is that Hudon will reprise her role as Lizzie.
Da’Vinchi
Da’Vinchi is joining the cast this season as Marcus Burke, described as a roguish and humorous new firefighter candidate who has a defiant streak, according to Deadline.
Dermot Mulroney
Mulroney was absent for several episodes in season 14 when his character was written off due to a storyline requirement. He portrayed Dom Pascal on Chicago Fire until Rob Morgan replaced him at Firehouse 51. Mulroney made a return in the May 2026 finale, after his future in the franchise seemed uncertain.
He is expected to return for season 15 to conclude his storyline.
“This season, unfortunately, I only have one episode. I finish on Tuesday, and then they write the character off,” he said at a convention. “We put our all into two seasons. They crafted an incredible story that posed a significant challenge for me as an actor, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Thanks for asking. [I’m] saddened to see it come to an end.”
