Chris Evans Shares Heartfelt Thoughts on Fatherhood Following the Birth of His Daughter
Chris Evans has shared insights about the changes in his perspective since becoming a father.
“Now that I have a daughter, it takes a really good reason for me to want to go to work,” said Evans, 45, during a recent Fan Expo appearance, as noted in a clip posted on social media. “So, my priorities have definitely shifted a bit.”
Evans and his wife Alba Baptista welcomed their first child, a daughter named Alma Grace Baptista Evans, in 2025, as reported by a source to People.
“They are relishing their privacy and embracing these precious first days as a family with their newborn,” the insider shared with the publication.
Though the pair has been together since 2021, they only made their relationship official on Instagram in January 2023. A source revealed to Us that month that Evans and Baptista, now aged 29, had “become serious.”
“This is the most committed anyone can remember him being in a long time, if not ever. They mostly spend their time at his home in Massachusetts, cherishing the tranquility of nature away from the limelight,” the insider remarked. “Chris has always been open about wanting to take his time before settling down.”
Evans and Baptista had a secret wedding in Cape Cod in September 2023, with Evans confirming their marriage the following month and sharing that they held two ceremonies.
“I got married. It was truly, really wonderful. We had basically two ceremonies—one on the East Coast and one in Portugal,” he shared at a New York Comic Con panel in October 2023, expressing that both events were “beautiful and special.”
Even though the Captain America star and Baptista never publicly revealed their engagement, he later discussed the proposal, sharing insights into that intimate moment.
“I proposed to my wife in Portuguese,” he shared with The Knot in June 2025. “Since she’s Portuguese, I learned how to say, ‘Will you marry me?’ in her language. I practiced it all week; I was so focused that I’d catch myself almost saying it while making breakfast. It became nerve-wracking before the moment arrived. I think I might have messed it up, but I still remember it.”
