Big Brother’s Mallory Opens Up About Feeling ‘Betrayed’ by Drew
Mallory Aurichio and Drew Campbell were on the same page in the Big Brother house, but he ultimately chose to send her home.
“I do feel betrayed by Drew, but he seems quite remorseful,” Mallory, 24, shared exclusively with Us on Friday, August 28, after her eviction from season 28. “I have no doubt that this decision will come back to haunt him. I’d be very surprised if this turns out to be a smart move for him.”
Although Mallory was upset by Drew’s vote among the six that led to her eviction, she emphasized that she wouldn’t let it ruin their friendship.
“I’m not leaving with a lot of anger towards him, and I’m still looking forward to hanging out with him afterwards,” she added.
Mallory and Drew were part of a four-person alliance known as For the American People (FAP), which also included Barrett Pfeiffer and Melody Morris. Drew and Barrett, 27, are additionally aligned with the Crossovers alliance that features reality TV icons: Angela Murray, Rick Devens, and Dee Valladares. Barrett and Drew had invited Mallory and Melody to create the Mosh Pit alliance with the icons, aimed at eliminating Kamu Kirk the week prior.
The rocket scientist expressed feeling “very frustrated” upon discovering Drew’s decision to turn against her.
“I wouldn’t have betrayed him like that, even if I knew he lacked the numbers,” she said regarding Drew’s actions. “I still would have voted to keep him to demonstrate loyalty. The strongest emotion I feel is disappointment.”
Mallory acknowledges that Drew “thinks he’s acting in his best interest,” but she wishes he would have been more careful with Angela, Dee, and Devens.
“I just wish he hadn’t put so much trust in the icons and kept them at a distance, like Melody and I cautioned him repeatedly,” she said.
Mallory stated, “I believe he’s intimidated by the icons, and though he thinks they are on his side, it feels like he’s actually serving their interests.”
While feeling betrayed by Drew, Mallory realizes that the blame doesn’t rest solely on him regarding her eviction.
“I think we have different styles of play,” she explained about why she and Survivor winner Dee couldn’t find common ground strategically. “Dee wanted everyone’s gameplay to be transparent. She felt that if I was collaborating with her, I shouldn’t be allied with Yash [Patel] and Taylor [Brown] because she believed they wouldn’t target me, but would put her in danger.”
Mallory shared her discontent with that style of gameplay.
“Just because I’m allied with you, it doesn’t mean your adversaries have to be mine. What’s the benefit of that?” she reflected. “That’s how everyone should ideally approach the game.”
