Adam and Danielle Busby Talk About Homeschooling Their Quintuplets
OutDaughtered stars Adam and Danielle Busby have shared insights into their homeschooling journey with their 11-year-old quintuplets.
“When you examine the statistics around homeschooled children, they tend to be better adjusted in social interactions,” Adam, 44, commented during the August 20 episode of the couple’s podcast “More Than Reality.” He added, “We’ve met plenty of homeschooled kids, and they often communicate with adults better than kids in public schools. Homeschooled kids are the ones who look you in the eye and engage in conversation.”
Danielle, 42, also discussed the academic advantages she’s observing as their all-girl quintuplets learn from their home in Friendswood, Texas.
“Currently … we’re dealing with some academic challenges, especially as they transition into middle school where new pressures arise,” the devout Christian elaborated. “At that age, kids are less focused on academics and more preoccupied with social dynamics—like their appearance, friendships, and sports. All those concerns overshadow academics when you’re in a public school setting. I’m trying to reinforce their academics first and gradually integrate the social aspects.”
In a February episode of their podcast, the couple, who gained fame after welcoming their daughters in 2015 and starring in TLC’s OutDaughtered, disclosed their plans to shift their girls from public school to a homeschool co-op for sixth grade. They mentioned that transitioning to homeschooling was never part of their initial plan, but it became a consideration as the girls matured.
An Instagram post from the couple on Monday, August 24, provided a glimpse into their children’s homeschooling experience. “🏡 HOMESCHOOL 🍎 First Day of 6th Grade for the Busby Quints! Barefoot, comfy clothes, and a late morning start to school… I think we’re going to enjoy this new adventure! We pray this year brings us lots of joy,” shared Danielle.
A photo featuring five of the Busby kids showed them proudly holding homemade signs to celebrate their sixth-grade milestone, each child sitting on the front porch next to their dogs.
Fans flocked to the comments section to voice their support for the homeschooling decision, with one remarking, “This will be our 8th year homeschooling and I wouldn’t change a thing. We absolutely love it!” Another added, “Embrace the more relaxed schedule and take advantage of it; that’s the whole point!! Homeschooling is a gift!”
Conversely, one critic expressed disapproval of the family’s choice. “So you pulled them out of school because you want to sleep in lol,” the social media user commented, igniting a lively discussion amongst other followers.
