Harry Styles Delivers Heartfelt 9/11 Tribute During NYC Concert
Harry Styles delivered a heartfelt tribute during his concert, marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
“Before we dive into the last couple of songs, I just want to acknowledge that being here today is challenging for many,” Styles, 32, expressed during his concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, September 11, as noted in social media footage. “Let’s take a moment to reflect on the remarkable resilience of this city.”
He added, “Let’s pause to remember the events that molded this city, the significant occurrences that shaped the century we live in, and all those who lost their lives that day, including the first responders and the countless others around the world who suffered in the aftermath.”
Styles also mentioned that he felt he didn’t possess “the right words to express” his feelings about the tragedy of 2001.
“I remember it vividly. I was just 7 years old, walking home from school when my entire world changed,” the British singer reminisced. “There are no words to adequately describe such an event, but there’s a song by an iconic New Yorker, Bill Evans, titled ‘Peace Piece’ that has always held significant meaning for me. It has provided me with solace, especially during reflective moments.”
Styles invited his band member Yaffra to perform a version of “Peace Piece” for the audience.
“I encourage you to join me now. Let’s put our phones away, close our eyes, and reflect, not only on the remarkable resilience of this city but also on our resilience as humans who continue to find ways to love each other even in times of great sorrow,” Styles concluded. “Let’s come together to remember how we illuminate each other’s lives, just as you do in these rooms every day.”
Harry Styles has indicated that he may take another long pause from the limelight after wrapping up his Together, Together concert tour in 2027. “Tomorrow’s announcement will reveal the final cities of Together, Together,” Styles, 32, shared in an email to fans obtained by Us on Wednesday, September 9. “After that, I’m uncertain about what lies ahead for me.”
Styles commenced his Together, Together residency at MSG last month, following numerous performances worldwide. The concert tour is slated to conclude in 2027 with several stadium shows.
“When we decided to embark on the 2026 tour, I knew it would be unique, but what you have turned it into surpasses my wildest expectations,” he stated in an email sent to fans on Wednesday, September 9. “I adore making music, and I cherish being with all of you, sharing in the love and joy that you create together every night. That’s why I wanted to be the first to inform you that we will be adding 2027 dates, which I initially found quite daunting.”
He further added, “Being an artist has been my only way of life; I have been doing this since I was 16 years old, and I consider myself the luckiest person to continue sharing these moments with you. … I look forward to us continuing to dance together with all our friends; I hope to see you there. Thank you for coming out to see us and for all the love and support you’ve shown me over the years.”
