Macaulay Culkin Had Never Visited Costco Until He Started Dating Brenda Song
Macaulay Culkin’s partner, Brenda Song, introduced him to a different experience when they started their relationship.
While reminiscing about her audition for The Last Showgirl, Song, 36, shared about taking Culkin, 44, to a Costco for the very first time.
“I had just dropped my son off at preschool and was with Mack. We were sitting outside Costco before it opened,” she recalled during an interview with Bustle on Tuesday, January 7. “Mack was sitting there saying, ‘Babe’ — he had never been to a Costco before we began dating — ‘We’re sitting in a Costco. I’m wearing Crocs. Costco’s not even open yet. You’ve tamed the beast, honey.’”
She continued, “And I responded, ‘How dare you, sir!’ Then my agent called me, saying, ‘Hey, I have this really great script for you. Do you have a minute? What are you up to?’ I told her, ‘Oh, I’m sitting in the parking lot at Costco before it opens.’ She said, ‘I need to get you a job.’”
Culkin and Song first crossed paths while working together on Changeland, which debuted in 2019. Prior to the film’s release, romance rumors started swirling when the duo was seen on a double date at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California.
Although the Home Alone star and Song have kept their romance relatively private, they have shared snippets. “[The relationship is] great!” Song exclusively expressed to Us Weekly in September 2018. “I prefer not to discuss my personal life, but everything is wonderful and I’m happy.”
The pair welcomed their son Dakota in April 2021. By the following January, Us confirmed that Culkin and Song got engaged after she was seen wearing a ring on her left hand in Beverly Hills. “They are and always have been very in love with each other,” a source told Us.
Culkin and the Disney Channel star later welcomed son Carson in December 2022. The next year, Culkin was honored at his Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony, attended by his family, during which he affectionately acknowledged Song.
“Lastly, but not least, I’d like to express my gratitude to Brenda. You are everything to me. You’re my champion,” he praised Song. “You’re the only person who is happier for me today than I am myself. You’re not just the best woman I’ve known; you’re the best person I’ve ever known.”
As Song embarks on her new chapter, she reflected on how Culkin believed she was “insane” for thinking her best career days were behind her. To prepare for this change, Song decided to part ways with her managers and publicist.
“Family life is the most important aspect,” she told Bustle, “but I’ve always maintained that to be the best parent and partner, I need to be the best version of myself. And a significant part of that involves my work. I must be able to honor that.”
