Katherine LaNasa of The Pitt Discusses the Dynamic Between Dana and Dr. Robby

Katherine LaNasa assures fans they can expect significant tension from charge nurse Dana Evans and Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch when season 3 of The Pitt makes its return.

“You know, it’s a rollercoaster,” LaNasa, 59, exclusively told Us about her character’s relationship with Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) in the upcoming season during the Rape Treatment Center and Stuart House annual brunch at UCLA Health on Sunday, September 27.

She suggested that even after Robby’s three-month hiatus from the ER, their chemistry will remain intact upon their reunion.

“There’s a profound love there, and then they really challenge each other,” LaNasa shared with a laugh.

Since the series premiere in 2025, fans of The Pitt have been captivated by the dynamic between Dana and Robby, particularly their ability to confront each other while working in the intense environment of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center (PTMC) emergency room.

Though they frequently clash and have had their share of heated exchanges, their bond is unmistakable.

Following Robby’s choice to step away from the hospital for a sabbatical at the close of season 2, many viewers feared that season 3 might lack the signature tension they have come to expect from the doctor and Dana.

Fortunately, Wyle’s character will return in full force, ensuring he continues to push Dana’s buttons in that unique way he’s known for. (The new season will commence approximately four months after season 2’s conclusion.)

LaNasa hinted that season 3 will also remain faithful to The Pitt’s trademark approach of addressing critical societal issues.

“We always delve into significant issues that are often overlooked on The Pitt,” she confirmed. “It’s a show that tackles important problems.”

LaNasa cited season 2’s powerful storyline featuring a rape victim who enters the ER, highlighting the challenges they face from a medical perspective.

“So many women approached me on the street, as well as media representatives conducting interviews for the new season, to express how much that episode resonated with them,” the actress reflected. “I believe it holds immense significance for many women who have faced sexual assault, particularly as we shone a light on how numerous rape kits remain unprocessed throughout the season.”

LaNasa mentioned that just as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay has done with her long-running series, The Pitt aims to amplify the voices of victims.

“There are many of us in the media collaborating with organizations like the Rape Treatment Center to create change for women and support victims of sexual assault,” she stated, referring to the event she attended at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

While LaNasa was somewhat secretive about the specific topics that will be addressed in forthcoming episodes of The Pitt, she informed Us that there will not be an update on the baby Jane Doe storyline that had been introduced in season 2. (In that episode, the staff united to assist in finding a home for an infant discovered abandoned in a hospital bathroom.)
