Influencer Mikayla Nogueira Addresses and Dismisses Photoshop Controversy
Mikayla Nogueira is “sick and tired” of the scrutiny surrounding her photos.
“I have come across numerous videos showing comparisons between these two photos,” the 28-year-old influencer stated via TikTok on Monday, September 28. She exhibited a side-by-side image of herself in front of a ring light and another taken at an event. “People go out of their way to find the least flattering snapshot and compare it to my best photo, accusing me of using face-altering or skin-blurring filters to deceive my audience.”
Nogueira mentioned that she hadn’t intended to revisit the topic but felt the need to do so after conversations emerged about how her side-by-side images might impact young girls and their body image. She subsequently shared unedited photos from the “same exact day where [she looks] like the same exact person.”
“What you’ll notice is I look exactly like the person in my videos,” she remarked. “I don’t filter my videos. Am I filming with a light? Absolutely! Every beauty influencer utilizes lighting.”

“I have repeatedly defended this because I am exhausted by it,” Nogueira continued. “I don’t use any form of beauty mode. The issue lies in people going out of their way to take an unflattering image of me and placing it next to a flattering image, claiming I’m deceiving young girls. The problem is with you.”
Nogueira expressed that she’s “done” with the accusations, particularly those alleging she promotes an unattainable and unhealthy beauty standard.
“I am doing nothing wrong,” she asserted. “This is what I look like. There’s nothing I can change about it. I’ve shared my side profile countless times to express how I don’t like it, and we’ve seen how I look on both the back camera and the front. We know what I look like.”
She further stated that the extensive discussion around her likely stems from her being labeled a “non-attractive beauty influencer.”
“I’m a non-attractive individual,” she said, “yet I have succeeded as a beauty influencer. I’m unsure if it’s jealousy or something else, but that’s not my issue. I just want it to stop.”
Moreover, Nogueira called out the social media user responsible for the side-by-side comparison, noting that they “know” how “insecure” she is and her challenges with “self-esteem.”
“That was one of the most disgusting comment sections I’ve ever encountered, but you don’t seem to care,” she expressed. “You liked so many of the comments.”
Nogueira’s followers promptly offered their support in the comments section. “We ALL look different at different angles!” one person wrote, while another concurred, “I look different in every photo.” A third commenter added, “Literally so beautiful from every angle 💗💗.”
