How to View ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’

When a person dons thick gloves, clutches a robust shovel, and puts on clothes meant to be soiled, it’s debatable whether they’re gearing up for a delightful day of gardening or plotting a sinister act.

In the forthcoming NBC series “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” either scenario seems plausible.

The series “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” centers around four members of a suburban gardening club — Alice (AnnaSophia Robb), Birdie (Melissa Fumero), Brett (Ben Rappaport), and Catherine (Aja Naomi King) — as they traverse a landscape filled with murder, threats, infidelities, and possible betrayal.

The show’s description cleverly employs the gardening theme to outline the narrative: “As grim realities begin to fester beneath the surface, they strive to maintain appearances as flawless as the flowers blooming in their garden above.”

“It’s a juxtaposition of the aesthetic beauty of nature above, contrasted with the underlying complexity and messiness involving death and desire beneath,” AnnaSophia Robb shares with TODAY.com about the series.

Robb notes that the show’s structure will alternate between timelines, with specific episodes delving into the individual histories of each character.

“Tonally, the series can oscillate between darker themes and more light-hearted moments,” Robb comments, balancing comedy and drama.

NBC unveiled the first official trailer in February.
