Kristin Cavallari responded assertively to an online critic who took aim at her makeup application technique.
In a now-deleted Instagram Story posted on Sunday, March 2, the 38-year-old reality star shared a screenshot of a comment from a user reacting to her beauty tutorial.
“Starting with the eyes first seems so wrong to me,” the commenter stated. “Eyes are last in my order which seems to be the only correct order IMO to do makeup.”
Cavallari cheekily fired back, saying, “Oh, well, French kiss! If YOU do it that way, it must be right! My apologies!”
The Hills alum mentioned that hateful comments are part of the reason she “hates social media.”
She went on to say, “Here’s an idea: just because something works for you doesn’t mean it’ll work for me … and that’s perfectly fine.”
On Saturday, March 1, Cavallari shared her makeup tutorial with her followers. In the video, the reality star showcases her process of applying eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara, followed by her Uncommon James’ bronzing drops. She completes her look with concealer, bronzer, an eyebrow pencil, and lip liner.
“Last night’s makeup ✨,” Cavallari captioned her Saturday post. “Who else is as obsessed with the @uncommonjames bronzing drops as I am?! 🤍.”
Cavallari’s supporters quickly defended her in the comments, agreeing that starting with the eyes is perfectly normal.
“I don’t know what the other woman was saying—I always do my eyes first. Why would I want to mess up my base makeup doing my eyes? It makes sense to me,” one user commented, while another added, “Girl, starting with the eyes makes the most sense. What’s wrong with people? Also…why do they care?!?!”
This isn’t Cavallari’s first time defending herself against online critics. In January 2021, the Very Cavallari star addressed those who “love to criticize” her parenting on Good Morning America. (Cavallari shares children Camden, 12, Jaxon, 10, and Saylor, 8, with her ex-husband Jay Cutler.)
“It’s the one area of my life where I’m incredibly confident,” she noted at the time. “I know what a great mom I am. I’m doing the best for myself and my family.”
Cavallari revealed that she avoids reading Instagram comments and usually only hears about negative remarks if her best friend, Justin Anderson, informs her.
“It’s really just noise, honestly,” she added. “I don’t allow any of that to affect me.”
