John Mulaney and Olivia Munn’s Toddler Had a Pooping Emergency During Wedding Vows
John Mulaney and Olivia Munn will always remember their wedding celebration — largely due to their son’s unexpected and smelly interruption.
“He turned 3 in November,” Mulaney, 42, shared about his son, Malcolm, during the Monday, March 10, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! “Over the summer, he was a 2-year-old. He attended our wedding in a little tuxedo and shorts. During [the ceremony], he actually went to the bathroom in his diaper and announced it mid-vows. A very sweaty little 2-year-old in a tuxedo just declared, ‘I’m pooping!’”
Host Jimmy Kimmel remarked on the unique timing of the confession, to which Mulaney responded with humor.
“It’s really an in-the-moment declaration,” he quipped in defense of his son’s behavior.
Putting the bathroom antics aside, Mulaney and Munn, 44, — who also have a 5-month-old daughter, Mei — cherished their “simple” ceremony held after three years of dating.
“We were married by Sam Waterston from Law & Order and a co-star of Olivia’s from The Newsroom who once said to Olivia, ‘If you ever get married, I’ll perform the ceremony,’” Mulaney shared. “I think it was chit-chat, but you take people up on what they offer.”
In August 2024, Mulaney confirmed rumors about his marriage to Munn after having a private wedding event.
“I got married. Thanks a lot. It’s the best,” the comedian expressed on Late Night With Seth Meyers. “It’s the greatest single time in my life.”
“I’ve been in a lot of interesting situations, but marrying into a large Vietnamese family is one of the most fun things I’ve ever done,” he added. “They’re the best, man. One of them will come with you anywhere, and they call me John Mulaney — full name. Full name all the time: ‘Olivia’s here with John Mulaney.’”
While the couple attempts to maintain privacy in their relationship, both Mulaney and Munn made an appearance at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars Party earlier this month.
Munn was also seen seated next to her husband during the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special crowd in February.

In a separate interview with GQ, the comedian also tried to capture his life as a husband with two kids.
“It was like a tornado picked me up, head to toe, hip to hip,” Mulaney told the publication in November 2024. “And I landed somewhere extremely lucky and nice, where I’m having the best time in life.”
