Hilaria Baldwin’s Beauty Recipes to Try with Daughter Carmen

Hilaria Baldwin and her daughter Carmen Baldwin are passionate about at-home skincare routines.

Hilaria, 41, and Carmen, 11, whom she shares with husband Alec Baldwin, recently spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about their latest book, Glowing Up: Recipes to Rock Your Natural Beauty, which was released last month. Fans will discover how to whip up strawberry lip scrubs, coconut facial cleansers, and much more, all using common kitchen ingredients you likely already have.

“We created this book because we believe it addresses the importance of healthy self-expression, natural ingredients, and nurturing the bond between parents and children as they transition into their tween years,” Hilaria shared with Us.

She added, “There’s often tension between adults and tweens when it comes to skincare and makeup. While some adults might discourage kids from experimenting with beauty, we recognize that it’s a natural curiosity that children and adults have shared for generations.”

Carmen, who has shown interest in the beauty realm for “years,” expressed to Us: “I enjoy researching ingredients online to understand what vitamins they contain and their benefits. My mom encourages me to experiment in the kitchen, so I’m always making something new.” She also mentioned that since she’s too young for a spa visit, she decided to set one up at home.

One of Carmen’s favorite ingredients is coconut oil, which appears in the book’s DIY face wash. “It cleanses and moisturizes, and the smell is amazing!” she raved.

Unlike her daughter, Hilaria wasn’t as engaged with skincare at a young age. “I was too busy doing handstands and playing outside,” she joked with Us, recalling that her own childhood “experiments” involved “sticks and leaves” rather than actual ingredients.

Despite not having a keen interest in beauty products as a child, Hilaria has taught Carmen the importance of being authentic. “There are so many external pressures, and while it’s great to be inspired by friends, I ultimately need to feel confident in my own skin,” Carmen told Us.

Carmen also shared with Us that her dad Alec, 67, often joins in when they experiment with new beauty treatments. “When I can convince him to let me apply a mask on him, he actually enjoys it!” she said.
