Celebrities Who Defied Anna Wintour’s No-Phone Rule at the 2025 Met Gala
Even though Anna Wintour enforces a no-phone policy at the Met Gala, not every celebrity attendee follows suit.
Megan Thee Stallion, Halle Bailey, and Questlove managed to give Us a peek behind the scenes, despite Vogue‘s editor-in-chief, who has chaired or co-chaired the gala since 1995, strongly discouraging phone use inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
“That’s kept mostly confidential; attendees must obey a no-phone (and thus, no social media) rule once they enter the museum,” Vogue reported in 2024. “However, the evening includes cocktails, dinner … and a performer (or two). Guests also typically have a chance to explore the exhibition.”
Additionally, an invitation is mandatory for entry to the Met Gala. The guest list is kept secret until the event, and fashion designers often accompany the guests they outfitted for the red carpet.
Besides requiring an invitation, guests also need to purchase a ticket, which can cost around $75,000, while a table starts at $350,000, according to CBS News. Smoking is prohibited, and attendees must remain in their assigned seats.
“We begin with a seating document as the names come together in December,” event planner Eaddy Kiernan informed Vogue in April. “We strive to ensure no one is facing a former flame. It’s amusing for me to look back through them to see who was invited.”
