Nepo Babies: Celebrity Offspring Addressing Nepotism
Not everyone begins their journey at the bottom in Hollywood—especially if their parents are already well-known.
Some Euphoria fans were surprised to discover that Maude Apatow is the daughter of actress Leslie Mann and writer/director Judd Apatow. Her family even offered Maude her initial roles as a child in Knocked Up and Funny People. Although she was not pleased when the internet labeled her a “nepotism baby,” she understands the designation.
Lily-Rose Depp, on the other hand, mentioned that having model Vanessa Paradis as her mother and Edward Scissorhands star Johnny Depp as her father may have helped her land an audition—but she asserts that nepotism never secured her a role. She told Elle in December 2022, “Nothing is going to get you the part except for being right for the part.”
Jamie Lee Curtis, however, has openly recognized that her parents, actress Janet Leigh and actor Tony Curtis from Hollywood’s Golden Age, aided her career.
