Behind the Scenes: Who Manages Love Island USA Stars’ Social Media While They’re in the Villa?

The Love Island USA season 7 cast is without their phones during filming in Fiji — so who’s managing their social media accounts?

This Peacock series, which initially debuted in the U.K. on ITV2 in 2002, features a new group of singles each season who must pair up to stay in the luxurious villa. The contestants, known as Islanders, live in seclusion and are continuously monitored by cameras. They must be in couples to remain on the show and vie for the grand prize of $100,000.

Love Island USA shares similar rules with the original series, including a complete disconnection from the outside world. Islanders cannot bring their phones, lack clocks, and receive those iconic texts using a completely separate device.

Former contestant Lucinda Strafford clarified in a 2021 YouTube video that this device was primarily for messaging. While Islanders could text each other, producers had access to their conversations.

“We used to send messages to each other while in bed to keep our conversations private,” former Islander Adam Collard told OK! Magazine in 2018. “We would delete our messages, but producers informed me that they have a record of everything.”

Season 4 participant Phoebe Siegel also remarked on the lack of access to the outside world for all Islanders. “There’s no Googling, no TV, no social media, and no texting anyone,” she mentioned in 2024. “Taking cute selfies and videos is about the extent of phone use, aside from receiving texts.”

As fans of season 7 are aware, just because an Islander doesn’t have a phone doesn’t mean their social media accounts are inactive. Reality stars often depend on their friends and family to keep their profiles active, sometimes even posting updates on their behalf.

The model will return to a supportive audience thanks to her family and friends championing #TeamChelley on her platforms. Chelley’s supporters also addressed fan speculation about her past ties with Ace.

“Seeing Chelley cry was absolutely heartbreaking. Watching on TV? It transformed from a Denzel tear to an outright sob. We all felt her pain,” read a post. “Olandria was the first person she met when coming into this experience, her ‘black barbie,’ her confidante during tough times. Chelley cherished that bond, and for them to part ways at such a critical moment was devastating. We know their friendship will endure.”

Cierra Ortega

Cierra’s inner circle is keeping her Instagram updated while engaging with her followers during her time in the villa.

“I hate seeing Cierra cry. Her sadness reached through the screen and broke my heart. We’ve all felt that unique heartbreak when someone cares for you, but not enough. I wish I could hug her. My mom always encouraged me to keep quiet if I have nothing nice to say,” a post stated. “Instead, I thought I’d surprise Cierra with an appreciation post she can refer to when she’s out of the villa, for those moments when she feels down or needs a reminder of how loved she truly is!”

The post continued: “She can return to this and remember the fabulous, intelligent woman she is. Let Cierra know your favorite thing about her or a moment that resonated with you. I’ll go first: I love how her personality shines through the screen; she’s warm and cuddly but can still assert herself without hesitation.”

If there’s one thing about my girl, her face card is never declining— even when she’s crying!”
