Ricki Lake Discusses Her Facelift and Weight Loss Journey
Ricki Lake has no regrets about her decision to undergo a facelift in 2024.
“Today, one year ago, I made a change,” Lake shared on Instagram on Friday, July 18. “Yes, July 18th marks the one-year anniversary of my deep plane lower face and neck lift, along with a mild CO2 laser treatment. I was blessed to be in the capable hands of my plastic surgeon @drallenfoulad, a true expert in his field.”
She elaborated, “A close friend had an extraordinary experience with Dr. Foulad, which encouraged me to take the plunge. She is the kind of friend who does all the necessary research and due diligence on your behalf. She consulted with the best doctors nationwide. I’m so grateful she led the way.”
According to the retired television host, she had “lost 40 lbs” and felt dissatisfied with the extra skin beneath her chin as a result.
“It was never going to tighten on its own. Not at 55. Trust me, when I say I still felt cute and loved myself regardless, especially after working so hard to achieve my best shape ever,” she reflected. “This procedure was the cherry on top. A year later, I look back at my bold choice and consider it one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. I’m an open book, and I always will be. So many people are curious and want to know, so here you go.”
Lake went on to describe each photo in detail, from her initial consultation to “the area I was unhappy with.”
The former talk show host has previously spoken candidly about her decision to undergo the procedure. In June, she discussed her facelift on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
“You can’t see anything! It’s incredible,” Lake remarked during her appearance on the show. “I’m completely transparent, and I always have been. This was something that bothered me. I lost a significant amount of weight, and I had this loose skin that I wanted to fix.”
Cohen noted that he had seen “a lot of work” and commented that her cosmetic procedure was “really well done.”
Lake also spoke about her weight loss journey exclusively to Us Weekly in January.
“I began on October 26, 2023, and embarked on this journey,” she shared, expressing her desire to “live her best life” which prompted her to start dieting.
“I didn’t go on any medication because I wasn’t prediabetic,” Lake clarified regarding rumors that she used Ozempic to lose weight. “There’s nothing wrong with those medications; they’re life-changers for many. However, I didn’t want to depend on a drug if I could avoid it.”
Instead, she created her own plan. “I wore a glucose monitor, used my Oura ring [which tracks health metrics], prioritized sleep, and maintained a low-stress lifestyle. It worked,” Lake shared. “And it continues to work.”
