Aaron Paul Relocates to France with Wife Following Lethal LA Wildfires

Aaron Paul has joined the ranks of actors bidding farewell to Los Angeles.

“After the fires in L.A., we realized we were done with the city, so we sold our house there and relocated to Paris,” the Breaking Bad star, 46, shared with the Daily Mail at The Only at 1850 by American Express event during the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 21.

“Paris is fantastic,” Paul remarked, noting that he made the move with his wife, Lauren Paul, and their two young kids.

“We went for the kids,” he added, expressing that he and his wife “have always dreamed of spending a year abroad.”

“We’ve always wanted to immerse ourselves in a completely different culture,” he stated.

In January, a series of wildfires erupted in and around Los Angeles, ravaging over 18,000 structures, consuming more than 57,500 acres, and resulting in over 440 fatalities, including those linked to smoke exposure. The estimated costs of the wildfires range from $28 billion to $53.8 billion.

In July, People reported that Paul had placed his Los Feliz residence on the market, with a listing price of $10 million for the three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home. Designed by renowned architect Stiles O. Clements and once owned by Robert Pattinson, Tim Curry, Noah Wyle, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Jim Parsons, the estate occupies 1.5 acres and features “preserved historical details alongside refined interior updates,” per the listing.

“Aberdeen has been a sanctuary for my family, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have created countless memories here over the years,” Paul conveyed about his former home in a statement to People. “We will always cherish this home and its legacy.”

Paul is merely the latest Hollywood star to leave the U.S. for a new life overseas. Notable figures like Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell have also chosen to relocate to Europe following Donald Trump’s anticipated 2024 presidential bid.

O’Donnell expressed, “I’m happy. Clay is happy. I miss my other kids, my friends, and many aspects of life back home, and I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country. When it’s safe for all citizens to have equal rights in America, that’s when we will consider returning.” in a TikTok video describing her move to Ireland.

DeGeneres, for her part, similarly mentioned that political factors influenced her decision to move to the U.K. alongside her wife, Portia de Rossi.

“We arrived the day before the election, and woke up to a flurry of texts from friends with crying emojis, and I thought, ‘He got in,’” she recounted during an interview with English broadcaster Richard Bacon last July. “So we said, ‘We’re staying here.’”

In April, O’Donnell candidly shared with Us her surprise regarding DeGeneres’ reason for moving abroad.

“I’ve never known Ellen to express political views, so I was startled to learn she left due to President Trump. That genuinely shocked me,” she told Us Weekly at the time. “I’ve always been politically active, and everyone knew my reasons for leaving. Our lives don’t really intersect anymore, which has been somewhat awkward, but I wish her well. I hope she finds peace and love in her life.”
