Celebrities Who Used Prosthetics in On-Screen Nudity Scenes
While certain actors, like Cooper Koch in Monsters, opted for full-frontal exposure, others have preferred to use body prosthetics to maintain some coverage.
Eric Dane, known for his role as Cal Jacobs in Euphoria, previously discussed the challenges of filming such intimate scenes.
“Those scenes are quite challenging to film. It’s beneficial to have a single voice guiding you, someone you can share your feelings with, and who advocates for the actors,” the Grey’s Anatomy star shared with Entertainment Weekly in June 2019. “This approach simplifies many aspects and creates a safe and comfortable atmosphere while filming something that can be quite uncomfortable. The scenes we shot in the pilot were no exception; they were particularly intense.”
In the pilot episode, Cal meets an underage Jules (Hunter Schafer) after connecting on a dating app. Despite Jacobs being open to nudity, he clarified that it was a collective decision for him to use a prosthetic penis instead.
Meanwhile, Dane’s on-screen son Jacob Elordi also shared his thoughts about the graphic Euphoria sex scenes.
“Every scene is like, ‘He sleeps with this person. He does this with that person naked,’” remarked the Kissing Booth star during his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in March 2022. “In Euphoria, that’s part of the character’s persona. He’s this ultra-masculine, macho jock. Characters like him tend to walk around without shirts, so it feels natural.”
