During Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, February 9, the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in front of a sitting president for the first time in history.

President Donald Trump is expected to attend the NFL game at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, as reported by the Associated Press.

The Secret Service is already on-site in New Orleans to ensure the President’s safety at this major sporting event, according to a statement.

“We have been meticulously planning and coordinating to guarantee the safety of all players, attendees, and staff,” stated Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. “This year’s security measures have been significantly strengthened since it marks the first time a sitting U.S. president will attend this event.”

The Super Bowl stadium in 2025 will be full of Travis Kelce’s staunch supporters, including Taylor Swift. “I believe everyone’s coming,” Jason Kelce mentioned to People in an interview on February 4. “I don’t want to presume for everyone, but I think it’s clear that our whole family will be there. Obviously, Trav will be there as well…”

The Secret Service has indicated that fans attending the game will soon receive updates regarding new security checkpoints to accommodate the presence of the President.

While Trump, 78, will be the first sitting president at the Super Bowl, three former vice presidents have attended, including Al Gore, who enjoyed the event in 1994. Trump’s last football game appearance was in December when he attended the Army-Navy game alongside now-Vice President JD Vance.

Travis Kelce, tight end for the Chiefs, shared his enthusiasm about playing in front of the president in a recent interview.

“That’s fantastic. It’s a tremendous honor,” said Kelce, 35. “No matter who sits in the presidential chair, I’m excited because it’s the largest game of my life, and having the president in attendance — it represents the best country on Earth — and that’s just amazing.”

This statement comes after Trump voiced criticism towards Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who supported former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. “It was just a matter of time… she’s quite liberal. She consistently backs Democrats, and that could affect her in the marketplace,” Trump commented during a September 2024 appearance on Fox and Friends, asserting that he is “not a fan” of the singer.

Though Trump hasn’t revealed his team preference, he responded playfully when asked about the game outcome on Tuesday, mentioning, “I don’t want to say, but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner,” likely referring to Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl champion, will aim to secure a historic third consecutive title on Sunday. The Chiefs bested the San Francisco 49ers in last year’s Super Bowl and overcame the Eagles in 2023.

The Eagles’ sole Super Bowl victory was in 2017 when they defeated the New England Patriots.
