DWTS Dancers and Their Furry Friends: The Ultimate Guide to Their Cats and Dogs
Although many of the Dancing With the Stars professionals are accustomed to showcasing their dancing skills on screen, some of their dearest friends are patiently waiting backstage — their beloved pets.
Val Chmerkovskiy and his wife Jenna Johnson, who wed in April 2019, are proud parents to two toy poodles.
“My three forever Valentines 🖤,” Johnson captioned a heartwarming February 2022 Instagram post featuring her husband and their dogs relaxing in bed.
The couple previously had a dog named Anastasia, who sadly passed away in August 2018.
“[Anastasia] brought immense joy to my life and truly shifted my outlook on many things,” Chmerkovskiy shared with Us Weekly at that time. “I didn’t grow up with dogs, so I never understood the profound love you can have for an animal; this was something new for me. And facing the finality of death is daunting and unexpected, making it a challenging time for me. … Time heals and helps us move forward, which is the most humbling aspect of it all. It’s incredibly heartbreaking, and there’s nothing left for me to do now.”
