Emma Stone Celebrates Daughter Louise Jean in Honest Update About Motherhood
Emma Stone is not just an Oscar-winning actress; her ultimate joy comes from being a mother to her daughter, Louise Jean.
“I feel so fortunate,” Stone, 36, shared with Vogue in an interview published on Monday, August 11, regarding her experience raising her 4-year-old. “She’s truly the greatest gift of my life.”
The Bugonia star mentioned that becoming a parent with her husband Dave McCary in March 2021 has transformed her perspective on acting.
“It has streamlined everything,” Stone remarked, adding that she now considers whether a role will keep her away from Louise Jean for an extended period. “It’s a clichéd expression, but it shifts everything. And makes everything simpler.”
The La La Land actress also opened up about how motherhood has impacted her performance skills.
“I believe it unlocks new layers,” she said. “I can’t say it’s solely that, but I feel every emotion more intensely, as if everything has intensified.”
Stone and McCary, 40, have kept much of their relationship private since their connection began in 2017 while they were working on Saturday Night Live a year earlier. Their paths first crossed in December 2016 when Stone hosted SNL for the third time and McCary was the director for one of her sketches.
The Easy A actress announced their engagement in December 2019 with a charming selfie showcasing her engagement ring.
Less than a year later, speculation arose that Stone and McCary had secretly wed earlier in 2020 when both were spotted wearing rings on their left hands.
Amidst their silence regarding marital status, Us Weekly confirmed in January 2021 that they were expecting their first child.
“She appears very excited about becoming a mother — she’s frequently oohing and cooing,” a source exclusively told Us at the time. “She looks fantastic, healthy, and radiant. She’s been active, socializing with friends, and getting her daily exercise.”
News arrived in March 2021 about Stone and McCary welcoming their little girl, yet the couple has continued to keep their personal life mostly private.
However, when Stone received her second Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2024 for her work in Poor Things, she made sure to acknowledge her daughter in her speech.
“I know I have to conclude, but I just want to thank my family,” Stone expressed in her acceptance speech in March 2024. “Thank you to my mom, my brother Spencer, my dad, my husband, Dave, I love you dearly. And most importantly, my daughter, who is turning 3 in three days and has brought such color into our lives. I love you larger than the entire sky, my girl.”
