FBI Unveils New Information on Kidnapping Suspect Nancy Guthrie

The FBI has released new information in an effort to identify a potential suspect in the case of Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.

“Today, the FBI is increasing its reward to $100,000 for information that leads to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance,” FBI Phoenix shared via X on Thursday, February 12. “New identifying details about the suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping have been confirmed following a forensic examination of doorbell camera footage by the FBI’s Operational Technology Division.”

According to officials, the suspect is described as a “male, approximately 5’9” – 5’10” tall, of average build. In the footage, he is seen carrying a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack.”

Since February 1, the FBI has collected over 13,000 tips from the public regarding this investigation.

Nancy was last spotted in Tucson, Arizona, on January 30 after having dinner with family members.

According to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, a 911 call was made by Nancy’s family around 12:03 p.m. on February 1, after the 84-year-old did not join her friends for a virtual church service. Patrol units arrived shortly after and initiated search and rescue operations.

Recently, FBI Director Kash Patel shared new surveillance images taken at Nancy’s home on the night she was reportedly kidnapped.

“Collaborating with our partners — as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered newly accessible images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance,” Patel noted via X on Tuesday, February 10. “Anyone with information is urged to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit http://tips.fbi.gov.”

The images and corresponding video captured a figure standing at Nancy’s entryway, wearing a ski mask and seemingly attempting to obstruct a camera.

“We believe she is still alive,” Savannah stated via Instagram after the images were released. “Bring her home.”

Since Nancy went missing, Savannah has stepped away from the Today show in New York to be closer to her family, which includes her sister Annie Guthrie and her brother Camron Guthrie.

Together, the siblings have urged the public to assist in the investigation and to help bring their beloved mother home.

“Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light. She is witty, spirited, and wise. She has grandchildren who adore her and envelop her with affection,” Savannah shared along with her siblings in an Instagram video posted on February 4. “She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend, full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her, and you’ll see.”

The NBC News journalist continued, “Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God’s precious daughter, Nancy. We believe and know that even in this valley, He is with you. Everyone is looking for you, Mommy, everywhere. We will not rest.”

Hundreds of detectives and agents are dedicated to this case, with President Donald Trump offering federal resources to the Guthrie family.

“We are deploying all resources to bring her mother home safely,” Trump, 79, stated via Truth Social on February 4. “The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family.”
