Ilana Glazer Shares Her Top Moment from Broad City
Fans of Broad City will know that the Comedy Central series is packed with hilarious moments, but one particular scene resonates deeply with co-creator and star Ilana Glazer.
“One of my favorite moments from Broad City is the season 1 finale, where Ilana has an allergic reaction to shellfish, and Abbi heroically carries her out of the restaurant after accidentally stabbing herself with an EpiPen,” Glazer, 37, shares in her 25 Things You Don’t Know About Me feature in the latest issue of Us Weekly, currently on newsstands. “We couldn’t stop laughing. I remember Amy Poehler, who directed the episode, doing that silent laugh where her shoulders would shake.”
In the 2014 episode titled “The Last Supper,” Abbi and Ilana celebrate Abbi’s birthday at a swanky restaurant said to be a favorite of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Poehler makes a cameo as the restaurant chef.
About halfway through their meal, Ilana’s face starts to swell as she admits her shellfish allergy but insists on enjoying the seafood for the special occasion. As the evening progresses, her allergic reaction escalates, leading to a side-splitting scene where an EpiPen-empowered Abbi rushes Ilana to the hospital.
Glazer — whose stand-up special, Human Magic, is now streaming on Hulu — and Abbi Jacobson created five seasons of the sitcom, with its final episode airing in 2019.
