Influencer Dani Austin Aims for Unmedicated Birth with Her Fourth Child
Influencer Dani Austin is sharing her reasons for opting for an unmedicated birth while welcoming her fourth child with her husband, Jordan Ramirez.
“Having four babies, I’ve experienced two unmedicated births, and let me explain why,” Austin said in a video posted on Monday, March 16, via Instagram, cradling her newborn. “With the first two, I struggled significantly with postpartum depression. I was sleeping 12 hours a night but still suffered from severe migraines, often just lying in bed contemplating dark thoughts. It was a challenging time.”
Austin confessed to feeling “desperate” during her third pregnancy, which motivated her to pursue an unmedicated birth.
“My postpartum experience after my first unmedicated birth was incredible,” she added, mentioning that she didn’t prepare extensively for either birth. “I simply thought, if I can endure 3-4 hours of pain to avoid suffering for 3-4 months, it’s worth it. Each time I do this, I feel empowered, and it helps me tackle postpartum life head-on. That’s why I opted for it again.”
Austin described going into “panic mode” during delivery, admitting she started “crying” when directed to triage, thinking she was “about to have this baby.” However, upon being checked, she learned she was just 20 minutes away from delivery.
“My fourth unmedicated birth was tougher than my third because it was quicker, but the period of intense pain was longer, if that makes sense. I felt panicked since I couldn’t see the end,” she explained, emphasizing her desire to inspire other moms to consider unmedicated births despite her experience.
She began sharing her unmedicated birth journey on Instagram on February 22 and later announced their son’s name is Smith after welcoming him.
“I honestly didn’t expect my unmedicated birth videos to gain so much attention lol 😂 and I’ve noticed a lot of questions (and opinions) about my choices. So I wanted to explain more,” she mentioned in her caption.
While acknowledging that “every birth is unique and every mom should choose what’s best for her,” Austin mentioned her struggles with intense postpartum depression in the past.
“Heading into my third birth, I was genuinely desperate to try a new approach that could improve my postpartum experience. I decided to go unmedicated… and the difference in my recovery and mental health was SO significant. Like, night and day🙌,” she expressed. “That’s why I chose to do it again this time. Is it easy? Absolutely not. But for me, the tradeoff has been worthwhile since my postpartum experience has been SO much smoother. Just sharing my personal journey! ♥️.”
