James Jordan Hints at Return Date for Landman Season 3 Following Delays
James Jordan recently provided some fresh details regarding the filming schedule for season 3 of Landman after experiencing some setbacks, and he even offered his prediction for a possible premiere date.
“I’ve received just one [script]. [Creator] Taylor [Sheridan] is currently immersed in writing season 2,” Jordan, 47, disclosed exclusively to Us while promoting season 3 of another Sheridan production, Lioness. “All I can say is that it’s going to be quite an adventure.”
Jordan suggested that there won’t be a time jump in the storyline.
“We resume right where we left off, and I share your excitement about the direction this narrative takes. We’re gearing up to start working,” he added. “We’ll be beginning here in about three weeks, and we’re set to deliver an outstanding new season for the fans.”
Although Jordan lacked insider knowledge, he speculated about a potential return, stating, “With today’s editing technology, the turnaround is quite rapid. We might be back on air before the year ends. I certainly hope so. That holiday window we had over the last two seasons around Thanksgiving through the end of the year is a perfect time for Landman.”
He further expressed: “We’re eager to get back to work soon and share the story with fans because we love telling it, and we appreciate the audience’s support. It’s such a thrill.”
The Paramount series originally launched in November 2024 after production kicked off in Texas at the beginning of that year. Filming for season 2 began in 2025 and concluded that August, with episodes airing in November 2025.
However, season 3 has encountered some changes. Initially scheduled for filming in May, it was postponed for three months, and production was delayed yet again, with a new anticipated start date around late September.
“I don’t see any reason why, if we begin after Labor Day — and if we hit the ground running — we couldn’t have some episodes ready by Christmas,” Jordan mentioned. “Who knows? But I know that fans are eagerly awaiting more content. Just the other day, someone at the airport asked me, ‘What are you doing here?’ and I responded, ‘What do you mean?’ to which they said, ‘You should be at work! We need more Landman!’ They can’t get enough.”
Jordan is delighted with the audience’s reaction to the show, which features Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, and Mark Collie.
“The fact that viewers are falling in love with these characters from both Lioness and Landman truly indicates that we’re doing something right. It inspires us to work energetically and excitedly whenever we can,” Jordan shared with Us.
For now, Jordan is thrilled with the reception of season 3 of Lioness, which airs Sundays on Paramount+.
“Working on Taylor’s shows and bringing these characters to life is a joy. He provides so much of the groundwork, as everything in the script offers more than enough insight. The audience also contributes by filling in the gaps with their imagination,” he explained. “The emotional investment they have in these characters draws them in more closely. I can’t choose a favorite, though.”
The actor continued: “What’s fascinating about Taylor is his exploration of frontiers — metaphorically and literally. It’s a pleasure to navigate these unknown areas, as that can be both daunting and thrilling. Telling these tales is incredibly rewarding. I enjoy playing Two Cups and Dale; they are so distinct from each other. But as long as we trust in Taylor’s storytelling and creativity, we know it’ll be an amazing journey.”
And regarding a potential crossover between Two Cups and Dale?
“I would love to shoot an episode where they meet at a bar and discuss the baseball game from that week or something. That would certainly be intriguing, wouldn’t it?” he joked. “They’re both very different characters. Portraying them requires significant focus and concentration. When Taylor trusts an actor with one of his narratives and a character, the goal is to show up ready to give it your all. We come prepared, punctual, and eager to immerse ourselves in the experience. It’s truly delightful.”
