Jennifer Love Hewitt is celebrating her 46th birthday by embracing her natural beauty.
The actress shared her thoughts on aging and self-love in a heartfelt post, featuring a makeup-free selfie, which she posted on her Instagram on Friday, February 21, as she marked another year of life.
“Turning 46. No makeup, no filter. (One of my best friends dislikes filters, so this one’s for you ❤️) It’s been a challenging start to the year. I don’t feel quite like myself. But perhaps this is all part of the journey to discovering who I am meant to be,” she expressed in her caption.
Hewitt, who has three children—Autumn, 11, Atticus, 9, and Aidan, 3—with her husband Brian Hallisay, also expressed her gratitude for the love she receives from her family and friends.
“In this sense of loss and feeling adrift, I’ve discovered an unusual calmness and a sense of letting go that isn’t typically easy for me,” she continued. “I’m blessed with the best kids and husband. My brother’s hugs provide healing. I feel my mom’s presence with me every day. My friends inspire me to become a better person daily.”
She added, “I possess everything I truly need and yearn for nothing beyond joyful moments, progressing in the career I cherish, spending more time with friends, enjoying delicious food, and hoping for a shift this year that brings clarity and perhaps a bit of magic back.”
Hewitt emphasized that society can be unforgiving towards women as they age, acknowledging the ways in which their physical appearance changes, yet she highlighted the advantages of getting older that she has also observed.
“I have witnessed and experienced the harshness the world shows towards women as they age, yet I’ve seen women I admire becoming happier, sexier, and more empowered with each passing year,” she reflected. “I am profoundly thankful for this life. I cherish everyone who chooses to share this journey with me and I am prepared to love the younger me and the older me alike because they are my partners for life. Sending love to all and here’s to 46! ❤️”
This isn’t the first occasion Hewitt, who began her career in the 1990s, has spoken openly about her feelings regarding aging in Hollywood and the unrealistic expectations that women endure.
“I believe fans pick an age they adore and think it defines you, expecting you to remain that way forever,” Hewitt stated to Fox News Digital in December 2024. “For me, it was my appearance in my 20s. People seem to struggle to comprehend that I no longer look that way.”
She concluded, “Aging is simply part of life. Women often reach a point of self-acceptance and comfort in their 40s that is truly beautiful.”
